Some teams run the pro set, the option, the run-and-shoot, the pistol and many other types of offense.  I think Ohio should be known as the trick play offense.  Since everything they have done on offense this year has been awful, this could be a brand new trend.  They could run reverses, half-back passes, the Statue of Liberty, hook-and-ladder and hail mary plays nearly every snap.  Forget trying to run for 1.5 yards between the tackles and the QB sneak with 4 stutter-steps and a fumble each time.  Those plays don't work.

There are some advantages to this change.  The receivers would be more invloved in the game.  The QB's would be less involved in the game.  The O-line wouldn't have to do traditional things, like block very long.  The fans would have fun watching the offense again.  There is no way the other team would know what was coming each play.  We would gain national media attention, kind of like a circus act.

Although the results would likely be the same (few yards and many turnovers), it would be a lot more fun to watch.  Go ahead and switch it up team.  If you are going to get less than 200 yards of offense vs. D1 teams, at least make it interesting.

It sounds intriguing, like my blueprint for a quadruple option, but it fails for one simple reason:

Trick plays require precision execution and the complete attention of the unit.

And if we were to see those aspects from our offense, I'd imagine we'd not need to rely on gadgetry to be effective.
