I've heard a number of rumors that OU, Nelsonville-York, and Alexander have all offered in some capacity.  I believe a meeting is being held tomorrow night on the subject.

According to today's Messenger (which I will not copy and paste), the Bulldogs' remaining home football games, as well as boys' and girls' soccer, will be played at Peden. Permission had to be obtained from the NCAA for Peden to be used without charge, and they received the okay on Wednesday.

Hopefully, Parking Services will not eff up this wonderful gesture on the part of the university.

Oh, you know they will.

I thought the OHSAA may have something on the books regarding not being able to charge for on site parking for regular season contests, but I'm not positive.

Some schools charge for "premiere" parking, but not sure about rules relating to general parking. My question is this, why do we need the NCAA's permission to use our facility as we choose. If it's required, that's nonsense.

ps..Kudos to those who made this happen!

Schools can charge for parking at their home events for football and basketball.  In fact if you want to charge for parking for a play-off or tournament game you must charge during the regular season according to the OHSAA

You need permission as allowing "free" use of facilities would be considered an extra benefit to prospective students, something like that could jeopardize the student-athletes eligibility regardless of where they went to school.

Major props to the U for allowing this.  Nice gesture of community support.

In a world where "simulating game conditions" is prohibited, I'm not surprised the NCAA has to sign off on allowing actual games to be played there.

I hope the students show up and support this, it would be fun to watch a high school game in Peden. And it certainly can't hurt the town vs gown rift.

I taught at Athens High School and it is nice to see the University step up and offer a helping hand to the school without expecting something back. Does anyone know if they are allowing the high school to run the concessions, too? Groups at Athens High School depend on their concessions for fund raising revenue.

in before the LOVE comments that even if they did the revenue would go down due to subpar pretzels.

Athens will run the game just like it was at Athens.

I don't think parking services will be messing with anymore equipment trucks, person in charge is still having trouble sitting.

Parkersburg South @ Athens, tonight at 7:30pm.  I might even try to walk down the hill and stop by for a bit.
