I get no pleasure from this.  And, I'm sure that he's a fine young man.

But have our coaches actually seen #5 in practice and games and concluded that he can play quarterback?

See, Wanamaker, that's coaching.  #5 probably got most of the practice reps this weekend.  This is the same #5 WHO DIDN'T THROW A SINGLE PASS in the first half (right?).  How about that 3rd and 3 call from their 35 on our first drive.  From a 3 receiver set we run an option.  Of course, it goes nowhere.

Even the stupd cow posters on this board said that their d-backs stink and that we should, like BG, throw on them.  Instead we decide to make #5, who's not a particularly good runner, the center of our offense as a running qb.

Wasn't our offense conceived as a passing one, with a strength being wide receivers?  Let's--coaching, Wanamaker-- keep running #5 as a mediocre option qb from 3 or 4 receiver sets.

How about that play on our 2nd or 3rd possession from about our own 16 in which #5 runs around, kinda doing who-knows-what as we're getting ready to snap it and then isn't ready for the snap.  That was only not a td for stupd cow on a fumble recovery because, apparently, he touched the ball to the ground, downing it.

How about those two third down completions that Boo throws for first downs.  Who comes in to qb on the very next play each time?  #5.  Huh?  Boo makes key plays and you yank him right then?  Coaching, Wanamaker.

Tell me why we refuse to run Brown or Boykin or go two back set?  That is coaching, Wanamaker.

I know.  Our O-line is bad.  Boo's struggling--but he's our best chance for gearing up our offense.

I know.  We get about zero pass rush from our front four and we don't seem interested in covering any receivers today.

But are you serious--does someone actually think that #5 can play college quarterback?

I'm betting on an EMU blowout of Ohio next week.

Looks like you're not going to have to worry about #5 anymore.

Until Boo or Bates show they can hit an open receiver teams will stack the run and assume Bates will keep it. The o-line isn't that good to just run the QB. We aren't Navy. We don't have a full back and run the spread.  Unless the line opens up gigantic holes teams will close on the backs before they hit the line.  Misdirection only confuses the Bobcats not the other teams defense. With the number of false starts we have thats perfectly clear. If we are gonna run the ball get into the power I can recruits some nasty lineman and fullbacks and blow teams off the ball. We have a pass blocking line with a QB who can't throw the ball. Wonder why nothing works.

Think about it:  We run the pistol which is a passing offense.  But we run a mostly running (option, qb draws) offense.  Does that make any sense at all.

We turn mediocre qb's into guys who complete everything, especially on third down.  Is it a zone defense that we're playing--which allows receivers to take tea, set up web pages, and write novels in the open areas.....What do you call it when the oppo has third and long:  First down.  And basketball season.

4 1/2 minutes to go and we're down 7 with the ball at our 3 yard line.  3 of the next four plays are runs--designed to help stupd cow by running out the clock.  Then it's 3rd and long and, surprise, they bring the house and sack us.  Every team in America (and many in Europe and Asia) will now imitate our run-it-when-down-7-late-with-97-yards -to-go.

Is there reason to think that we'll win another game this year?  This is gonna kill recruting.  I'm pretty much off Solich.  You can fire this whole, unimaginative and rigid staff right now as far as I'm concerned.  Also, play the best players from here on out, with no regard to burning red shirts.

If Boo is not the starting QB after tonight, they should hire my 2yr old son to be OC.  It is so obvious they play better with him at QB.  There is no threat of a pass with Bates in there, it seem like we are going back to the triple option.  If Albin had half a brain we wouldn' t be running the ball down 7 with 4mins left in the game....that worked out well.

Monroe, have no idea why you bring me into this especially when I am on record from day 1 saying Boo is the guy for the job. Boo brings too much to the table, ability to make plays and get out of jams. As for reps, not taking all the reps is probably a good thing for Boo as that allows him to rest his shoulder.

Like I said....I'm starting a petition to fire his ass and any other coordinator that has made a retarded (sorry about the term for those that are offended, I have nothing against the mentally handicapped, I actually respect them for the amount of effort and heart they put into everyday life) effort in his play calling by running it up the middle and waiting for the pass when we truly need it and i mean when THEY know that we truly need it.

I also talked to someone who is a friend of a bunch of the players, he said that they don't care about the school.  According to him they have all this flat sceen tv's and cap in their locker room that the previous AD got them.  If that is the case the current AD is on my fire list also in place of one that has the balls to say "all this sh** is gone until you put up results and act like you care about this school.  My word on this stands, you will hear from me at the Frank show and during the next home game.  EVERYONE will know my displeasure.

Please explain the above concerning tvs, caps, locker rooms, previous AD and how any of that has anything to do with caring for the school. You have lost me.

Has our secondary been playing a zone defense the last two games?  If so, no adjustment to man coverage to stop the seemingly 100% ability to hit short stuff on us to convert third downs?

When I have some time later today, I'll try and bring up the #'s of the qb's for columbus and stupd cow against us vs. their numbers for their other games this year.  I'd espec like to see their third down numbers.

It all starts with the lines.  We need pass pressure from the d-line.  And the o-line, well, who knows.  Kinda seems like they line up to close to each other--narrow 'splits'--so that they don't cover a wide enough area.

Our starting defensive linemen, all fo them returning senior starters, have 0 sacks to this point. That's been the biggest defensive disappointment.

Not just that, but having a flat screen tv in the coaches room is pretty par for the course and I'm guessing other coaches rooms have a lot more than a tv or two.

Ok I don't really know what I was saying last night.  I was just fuming mad that we lost again because of foul play calling and a very undisciplined first half...which is how we lost last year against them.  I just heard some stuff and went with that and yeah...just went off on a fuming rant.

Please watch the game before you make asinine comments.  The defense did a pretty good job of mixing up our coverages, we played several different zones, brought a good deal of blitzes, and played a good deal of m2m.  Bottom line their receivers had more quicks and athleticism than our DB's, especially at the RB position where they simply outskilled our LB's in coverage.

You know BLove gets hammered on a lot for being so negative however I do not think there is a more negative person on this site, you always either have a bitch or are posting some inane comment about something sucking.

First some facts.  stupd cow's qb was 57 of 101 for 555 yards before yesterday, so averaging 19 of 34 and 182 ypg.

stupd cow was 0-3 before yesterday.

Thier qb certainly looked pretty calm and collected out there.

That said, our giving up 21-30 for 295 yards was not exactly stellar defense.  Plus their receivers dropped at least two easy ones.  And, on the drive that mattered--stupd cow's drive to the winning 7 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, they completed 4 of 4 times when they had 3rd down situations (with the last one resulting in the td).

We didn't play well enough to win.  We played plenty well enough to lose.

Sorry, but that's Knorr.

And totally unacceptable.  We may be thin and/or injured at spots.  But the strategy which we have employed and the way that the players have executed it have not been satisfactory.  We should be 3-1, even if we aren't very good.

Marshall has played better competition than we have up to that game, we were unable to get pressure on the young man and he stood in the pocket with a great deal of poise and made very nice throws, I only remember him throwing one un-catchable ball while in the pocket.  I am sure if we were able to cave the pocket and consistently bring pressure up the gut he would not have looked too good, however given time the guy looked great on Saturday.
