....people need to practice a little more before they bring their act to the big stage.

Good lord I think the first guy broke an ankle today coming in HOT from 30-40 feet.

The second guy wasn't much better.

Ugly.

Who? What? When? Why? Where? Rufus?

I'll tell ya where we'll go. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talkin' bout a little place called... ATHENS.

One of my infrequent posts:

I thought the two in question were wearing the uniform of the one of the branches of the military of the United States of America.  The very protection the branches provide enables us to sit smugly at our keyboards and cast, at worst, disrespectful, at best, disparaging remarks at them.

I am sure all the landings done in the past by members of the 101st the 82nd, and all those who have followed them out the door on slightly bigger stages (than Peden) are things of picturesque beauty.

I hope neither one was hurt.  I thank them for their service.  I wish them all Godspeed.

To summarize:

“… we won't sit here...

and listen to you badmouth

the United States of America!”

Maybe Love should show us how it is done. Unbelievable.

It was a great day all around. Good to see Rufus back among the faithful.

You guys are absolute d-bags....

My comments had nothing to do with them being in uniform (which I'm not sure they were even military people...as they said something about the "Ohio Skydiving Club")...and everything to do with not wanting to see them get hurt.

The first guy came in at an insanely steep angle and speed and landed very hard.
The second guy wasn't much better.

I'm not sure what else can be said or how else to say it. They looked like they hurt themselves and need to refine their techniques.

I personally think skydiving for recreational purposes is a waste of time, but more power to those that like to do it.

I too saw this.  I was in the student section and it looked for a minute that he was going to crash right into us.  Based on the look on his face, I'd say he was thinking the same thing.  That angle he came in on was ugly and I really thought he was hurt bad until he stood up.  The second guy didn't look that great either from where I was sitting.

The opposing team sucks!

There's the classy Love response we've all come to expect.  Disagree with me?  You're a d-bag.

Yes, they came in hot, but they were trying to hit the 50 in spite of a fairly brisk puff of wind.  They hit the 38 and 44.  I salute them.

Firstly, they were not military jumpers, but they are paid by the Army recruiters to jump.

Secondly, all the jumpers you see jumping into stadiums have over 500 jumps and a Pro rating.

Lastly, until you have jumped into a stadium, where winds swirl around and are not ideal for a perfect landing anytime...don't open your mouth.

And yes, both are doing just fine!

If you do not know anything about skydiving then you should not comment on it. It makes you sound like a complete idiot (bobcat love). Do we really need to critique a skydivers technique on this board? Really?

I agree both landings looked like they were going to be a lot worst then what they actually were, but on a side note how about the PA guy announcing "Perfect Landing" as the guy did a face plant into the turf.. LOL...

I recall a Peden pre-game stunt in the late '90s where the Bobcat mascot was to deliver the game ball via helicopter. The chopper landed on the field and the mascot got out -- and what looked to be part of the act (looking dizzy, disoriented, holding his stomach) -- was real (I knew the guy in the suit that day). Combined with the heat of the suit, he said he was genuinely airsick and almost took his head off to vomit right there at mid-field.

Oh what a Bobcat highlight that would have been.

That's from two years ago, by the way -- Rufus entered Saturday via motorcycle (probably because of the above photo.
