The Miami - Ohio trash talking has already started on Miami's HawkTalk.  I am thinking seriously about making the drive to Oxford.  It would be nice to grab a 5th straight victory over Miami in front of their optimistic fans.  Anyone else thinking of making the drive?

My wife and I will be there.  Unfortunately, we will be sitting in the Redchicken section, since the Ohio web site ticket sales was so screwed up that they didn't even have the Oxford Tech game listed as an away game for which tickets were available.  Went on the Redchicken site and the ordering procedure was simply and easy.  Maybe we can sneak over to the Ohio section after the start of the game.

Also, BobcatGman is considering having a tailgate with BBQ Redchicken as the main course.  Should be a festive time as Frank tries to equal the legendary Brian Burke's 5-1 record against the Preppies from Oxford.

GO OHIO!

Almost have the wife convinced to go for the day. It's Fiami's homecoming, and she got a degree from there (her only flaw), so there's a good chance I can pull this off.

Definitely making the trip. Although the game isn't the sure thing we've had in Oxford the past couple trips. Team must be ready for this one. Two QBs we will face in two weeks that we tried to recruit that chose other, lesser, schools.

This is the first time, I think, since the winning streak started that I'll miss it.  We have a meet up at the Evil Empire Sunday, so I need to stay here and get my affairs in order Saturday.

Well, I 've got airline tickets and game tickets to come with a buddy from Denver, but just learned of a death in the family last night at 12:25am so not sure for now.  A bummer in more ways than one.  Family a lot more important though.

I have been told when calling for tickets previously that Ohio stops selling tickets to away games at least a week and a half before the game. I did notice this game previously was listed to purchase tickets, but I'm guessing it was removed within the last two weeks because they stopped selling them. I generally have to unfortunately end up buying tickets from the opposing school because I usually don't know soon enough if I'll be able to go. However, you usually can request tickets in the visitors section if you call.

I plan to be in the Millett parking lot and beginning to tailgate at 9:30 and figure out tickets when I get down there.

Everyone is welcome to stop by. Just PM me so I know how much food to bring.

Got the Miami tickets from the Oxford Tech ticket office in the mail yesterday.  Quick and efficient turnaround.  All of my dealings with the Ohio Ticket office in the last several years have been disappointing.  When we ordered two additional tickets online for Homecoming a few weeks before the game (for friends who were coming to town for the game), the ticket office failed to mail them to us.  When I called a few days before the game, they couldn't even find a record of the order under the confirmation number or by looking under my account.  Only when I told them the exact seats that I had ordered (Sec #, Row #, Seat #) from my online receipt were they able to find a record of my order.  We then had to pick the tickets up at the Will Call windows.  In short, it was a totally bush league operation.  They need to junk their online system and buy something that actually works.  Also, I recently had some unsettling phone calls about my basketball season tickets that I won't go into at the moment.  Leave it to say that the whole ticket operation needs a major overhaul.

Edit: I can't stand it when Oxford Tech beats us at any thing.  Let's have the best ticket office in the MAC.  Go OHIO!

Would it be worth the hassle to get group tickets? Looks like 20+ would $12 each.

It's not EMU (10 for $30), but perhaps better than full price.

I trust that the SW Ohio (Cinci, Dayton etc) alum chapters are shaking the tree to get many, many thousands of Bobcat faithful to this one?!

For those who go, please remember this...use it lOud, prOUd, and a lot!!!:

Stand up and cheer,
Cheer loud and long for old Ohio,
For today we raise
The Green and White above the rest.

Our teams are fighting
And they are bound to win the fray.
We've got the team, O-H!
We've got the steam, I-O!
For this is old Ohio's day!

Does anybody know if the homecoming parade will impede traffic getting to the parking area by Millett coming from Cinci on 27? I couldn't find a map of the parade route on their website because their website sucks, naturally.

Two cars sitting at the stoplight in Millville are sufficient to impede traffic on the drive up 27 from Cincinnati.  The homecoming parade, whatever the route may be, will be the least of your worries.  For whatever reason, that drive always seems to suck on game days, no matter how many (or few) people are in attendance.

Regarding the parade route, if I remember correctly, it starts at the corner of College and High uptown, goes down High to Talawanda, turns left on Talawanda, goes down Talawanda to Sycamore, turns left, and turns into the Millett parking lot.  At least that's what it used to be.  Parade should start around 10:30 or 11, I'd imagine.  This could indeed cause problems with getting into the Millett lot, so I'd try to be there before 11 if I were you.

Thanks for replying. Is there an alternate or recommended route around the parade? I've been to Oxford many times and so I was anticipating an issue in getting to Millett from I275.

1-275 to Colerain Ave then you take the left at Millville is the popular way. You could also go through Hamilton, take 177 to 73 west straight into Oxford. That should be a less-congested route.

Assuming you're coming up 27 and want to avoid the parade entirely (or as entirely as possible), I think your best bet is to turn left on Chestnut at its intersection with 27/Patterson, take Chestnut one mile to Locust, turn right, take Locust one mile to its dead end/intersection with Sycamore, turn right (the only way you can go), and take Sycamore to the Millett lot, which will be on your left probably 3/4 of a mile down.  This should avoid the parade route, except at the very end (since they'll be trying to come into the Millett lot from the other direction) -- but, with that said, I don't remember where the staging area for the parade is.

For a map of it, see here: maps.google.com/maps/ms
