Vegas has us as a 13.5 point favorite. I would have thought it would be closer to 18-20.

Here's hoping we're out to a quick and dominating first half so we can rest some of that lengthy probable / questionable list (most critically Dak, Jordan & Phil IMHO)...

Does anyone have confirmation one way or the other regarding the rumors of an alternate jersey for this the "Halloween" game?

Especially with the short turnaround for the Buffalo game.

A "Halloween" jersey just may peak enough student's interest that the attendance could jump significantly!!

Maybe if they give us replicas after the game.

In the holiday spirit it would be nice to have a jersey with Boo on the back.

Could it be the injuries Ohio has at Center?

I think Louisiana has played a tougher schedule than us, so that might contribute to the line.

I don't think this will be an easy game.  They are coming off a disappointing performance vs. WKU and they likely will be ready to play.

I think their strength of schedule is generally rated about the same as ours. They've played two BCS schools, but one of those is Georgia, who is just 4-4. Other than that, they've played Sun Belt teams, and Troy (4-2) is the only team in that league with a winning record right now.

Troy is a decent team, and L-L lost to them by a touchdown on the road the week before getting crushed at home against WKU. It seems they are a very up and down team. They actually led Oklahoma State at halftime but got outscored 37-7 in the second half.

They throw the ball around a lot, so hopefully we'll get some more picks and sacks.

They seem to be a lot like Fiami.  They rely on passing...they pass just over half the time but about 3/4 their yards are through the air.  They're averaging about 2.6 yards per carry and less than 90 yards per game.  The secondary will have to step up again this week.  ULLaf is giving up 3 sacks a game, so the D line should be able to tee off.  They're QB is a junior, so he might not be as easily rattled as Dysert.

According to Rivals.com, they had four defensive starters who didn't play against WKU and had 3 WRs, 2 Safeties, a backup QB and a Center banged up during the game; one of the WRs was on crutches afterwards.

Last week, their coach gave them an "Us vs. Them" speech like Solich gave the Bobcats after the BG loss in '06.  The Bobcats responded with seven straight wins.  ULLaf responded by breaking WKU's losing streak.

Can't say they'll come in fired up, but they may come in disgusted enough at their performance that they could be dangerous.  It's another week for the Cats to stay focused on this team and take care of business to get bowl eligible in October.

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

Ohio needs to come out and punch the Ragin Cajuns in the mouth and put the game away early, Rest as many players as possible late in the game,  to get ready to make a final run for a MAC East Championship.

According to an article in their paper (link on the home page), UL has suffered so many injuries on the d-line that a walk-on who had never played a down before was pressed into service for 43 snaps. Hopefully, the Ohio running game can have a big day.

I wouldn't read too much into ULL's strong performance against Troy. Firstly, the Sun Belt is not having a great year and Troy is the only team with a winning record so it says the conference is not too strong. The MAC for its failings is closer to the Big East in strength than the Sun Belt this year. Secondly, the key for weak opponents upsetting strong ones during a college football season is to get them early and get them in their own stadium. That is why Ohio lost to Toledo and Marshall in the first few weeks. Third, teams performing poorly and without depth are subject to having the wheels come off their season with players dogging it down the stretch. That is part of the reason why BG is playing so badly now after a solid start and why there is a good chance the ULL will have psychologically mailed the season in when they come to play this Saturday.

Troy seems as strong this season as during the past four years when it went 8-5, 8-4, 8-5 and 9-4 with a  decisive 41-23 win over Oklahoma State and impressive losses including 17-24 at Florida State and 34-44 at Georgia.

This season Troy - 4-2 - opened with a 3-point win at  home over BG.  Another of its wins was by 29 at Middle TN.  Troy's two losses? by 3 at Oklahoma State and by 1 at UAB.

If their injury situation does not improve for Sat. then they are in a world of hurt, no if's, and's, or but's.
Their local paper on this subject really under scores that their lines are in deep trouble. When you have to go out to the student body to recruit linemen you have a major problem.

Yeah the most positive post I read was that they hope that we need to punt. WKU didn't punt once in the romp over LaLa last week.

Wouldn't it be sweet if Hershey goes back for his only punt and then breaks off a td run.

Honestly I'm glad to hear that...I was hoping he'd see the same limited duty he did against Fiami to let him rest.

What I'm more intrigued by is who will be slated to return punts with TJ out?  My guess is Dallas but either way, I expect that young man to see a lot of action this weekend...

I would guess Brown and/or Harden are doing the punt returns this week.  The timing of this out of conference/should win game has came at a great time.  Let the injured heal up for the home-stretch, which is shaping up to be just as exciting as last year!

Who is our third center if Mitchell can't go on Saturday? Should Tettleton or Snyder be getting some in-game reps at QB during these blowouts?
I hate to think of us putting in a untested QB at Temple if Boo gets his bell rung and Bates is still nursing injuries.
