Ted--I think that you're connection is broken.  It has us losing to Lou-La in the mid third quarter.

Weird play in the Toledo/EMU game.  EMU throws an interception.  The Toledo player who intercepted the pass is running the ball back with his head down and gets leveled by an EMU player.  On the hit, the ball pops out and EMU recovers.  It was clearly a fumble, but refs throw a flag on EMU player for a "Helmet to Helmet" hit.  So, it was EMU's ball at beginning of the play and EMU's ball at the end of the play, but the refs give the ball to Toledo basically erasing the fumble because they felt the hit that caused the fumble was illegal.

Officials do have this type of authority.  I wish that they would exercise it more often.  I saw another game today (won't mention the teams) where a defensive player hit a ball carrier in the knee with his helmet.  The TV folks replayed several times, but the officials just kept their flags in their pockets and called nothing.  It should have resulted in an ejection for spearing -- which is done, actually, to protect the offense player from breaking his neck.  In this case, he could have also caused a serious knee injury.  It was just tacky all the way around.
