SI.com is reporting that the Big East has agreed to expand to 10 teams for football. They had already approached Villanova to consider moving their football program up to the D1 level, and I'm not sure if Villanova has agreed or not. Which MAC school if any would be under consideration?

If anyone, Temple. I think UCF is a slam dunk to partner with South Florida. Then, it depends on whether they want to go to 10 or 12 teams. Sounds like they have heavy interest in TCU.

It sounds like the Big East wants to get to 10 football playing members by 2012 and 12 by 2014. I would guess they'll announce TCU and UCF as members for 2012 by the end of the year before recruiting season because they know both will be on board for the 12 team package. That way it gives the Big East time to wait on Villanova to decide if they want to move up and a more relaxed time table for doing so. If Villanova declines next they are going to approach Temple. The focus in the Big East right now is totally around big media market teams.

I think Temple will join the Big East. They do give the MAC a good TV market but there is very little else that Temple has to offer in football. They would be a good fit for the Big East but would most likely be bottom feeders in a BCS conference.
At least in the MAC they can compete.

I see a time that C-USA will re align and that will directly effect the MAC.  The so called "super conferences" are not going to be good for those on the outside, and that will include most if not all traditional MAC teams.
We sure are witnessing a changing landscape as far as NCAA conferences are concerned.

Hanging in there!
