Ryan can you change the url in my post to a direct link.  The play is a little more interesting as part of the news broadcast.  Thanks,

Additional explanation on that play, from Yahoo:
"Late in the third quarter, with Driscoll down 6-0, the Wynn Seale defense was called for a five-yard penalty with led to a respotting of the ball. Before the next snap, quarterback Jason Garza loudly told the center that the refs were marking off five more yards."

and that the Driscoll coach was "barking directions and motioning with his hands to Garza, who acts like he's confused about the situation."

I don't think this is trickery within the rules of the game.  The officials could have called this play back and enforced a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.  This is nothing like a "muddle huddle" or the "no stance" trickery.   To me this is one step too far.  Just my opinion.  Pile on as you see fit!

Come on OCF, this is the free enterprise entrepreneurial spirit at it's best.  What you're advocating is government meddling and control.

Technically you are correct, an official could flag this for Unsportsmanlike conduct under rule 10 of the NFHS rules (which would be the overseeing governing body of this age), rare something like this is called.

Hey, I know a little about the rules . . . not specifically midget league football, but I once had an official's license in both football and basketball issued by the OHSAA.  I took Jack Rhodes' athletic officiating class, back in the day.  The midterm was the football licensing test, and the final was the basketball licensing test. (Or, the other way around, I can't actually remember.)  Fortunately for the world of sports, I never actually officiated a high school game.  After getting out of the service and returning to school, I let my licenses lapse.  The only officiating that I ever did was OU intramural athletics, and that wasn't a very long career.  Sometime, over a beer, I'll tell you about how I almost caused a riot in one game with a controversial call.

I'll gladly be the contrarian here. I think we can all agree that the purpose of youth sports is to help players learn the fundamentals and understand the importance of teamwork...all while having fun and being rewarded for success.

This smacks of yet another jackass father/coach who wants to show off his strategic prowess.  What does this teach the kids on either team - that trickery trumps hard work?

The only way...and I mean the only way...this would be acceptable for me would be if Bobcat Love (aka 3Ball) were the coach of the other team.
