I've been on this board for a number of years and, after this last bar incident one thing has become clear.  I know these are "young adults" who are learning about life.  However, it seems to me that RULE #1 for ALL athletes at Ohio should be "STAY OUT OF BARS"...  No athlete should be in a bar during seasason and even out of season it is simply a place for trouble.  I fail to see why Athletes and Coaches can't figure this one out.  I'd say if they have to "party" and/or "drink", it should be done in private.

If you think we have a hard time recruiting top notch athletes now, just try to put that rule in and see what happens.

Step one towards becoming an LDS school...completed.

Next step: 26-year old left tackles.

Third step: Recruit a Detmer at quarterback.

And no sporting events on Sunday, lest they interfere with church.

In fact, each athlete should be given a Bible just like in Shawshank Redemption.

Just shocking to have students athletes continue to make bad decisions off the field. Solich and Groce are good coaches but they have to remind their players that making good decisions off the field is as important and making them on the field. Very troubling that we got upperclassmen making these mistakes. Its a bad decision by Boo to put his season at a risk. That decision might have cost the football team a division title, MAC title or a bowl game. If we drop the last two games we might not go to a bowl. Financially its a bad decision to accept  a bowl and finishing 7-5 without an east title makes it easier to turn down the bowl.  Why waste the money  if we don't have our starting quarterback for the bowl game.  Unless Bates proves he handle load in these last two games

The team is going to a bowl. It has won 7 games. Its not really about the money, its about the extra practices and a game on ESPN. Its about recruiting and program development. Bates if you may have not noticed is the leading rusher this season and was promising enough to get the starting nod over Boo in game 1. A few new wrinkles in the offesnse and the team should do okay. In fact Bates may have played an overall larger role in the winning streak up to this point than Boo himself.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

Help me understand what part of Boo's actions you deem so irresponsible-

- Going to a pizza place.
- Hanging out with friends.
- Having a brother that is confrontational.
- Trying to break up a fight involving brother.
- Getting punched in the face. repeatedly.

There are dozens of bars and restaurants uptown that have had thousands of student athletes in them over the years with no problems. Is it more odd that there have been two fights uptown involving student athletes in the last 6 months or that both incidents occurred with employees at the same place? Seems to be an odd coincidence.

If it was just a problem of student athletes being out of control then why hasn't this happened at a house party where its easier to get too drunk/high, and then egos get tested, or someone disrespects someone's girlfriend, or something?

I don't have enough information to know if we have a student athlete problem or an over zealous bouncer problem, and I doubt you know for sure either, so let's not be so quick to cast stones in either direction.

I hope you are joking. Bates accumulated virtually no stats in 3 of the last 6 games. Against Buffalo he played well but only recorded 40 yards or so of rushing. I love what Phil brings to our offense but this statement seems to be completely detached from reality. Or perhaps you're suffering some kind of PTSD after Friday night's disaster.
