Lets put the "he said she said" aside until further notice and assume Boo is, at a minimum, out for the Temple game.  Who gets the snaps at QB?  Obviously Bates will play a much greater role, but how much, if any, do we mix in Tettleton and/or Snyder and risk the ability to redshirt them this year?

For me, I am not too comfortable with Bates taking every snap.  I think he brings a lot to the table, but I like him more as a mix-in and move around option.  The trouble is, Tettleton isn't much of a thrower either...and Snyder hasnt even taken a collegiate snap yet.

This hurts our chances...bad.  Frank is going to have to do some serious game planning and figure out what our best approach is against Temple.  I think we will have to run some options and give them a lot of different looks with the running game.

Pull out all the stops.   Maybe Hershey in the wildcat?

Can we win with Bates taking all the snaps?  I'm not sure.  Temple will surely stack the box.  How will we throw?  Who would be the backup, Tettleton or Snyder?

Can Ohio win with Bates. Yes!!! I am more concerned about the distraction and getting the team refocused on the task at hand. Fortunately there are lots of seniors. The seniors need to take charge and decide to make plays. This team has already learned how to play without two great playmakers, there is enough talent to take Temple with the time between games to get healthy and to prepare.

There is also the fact that the offense minus Boo is going to be saving itself a lot of INT's. Most of the reason why Boo looks so good in the offense is the play of the O line and offensive pieces around him. Therefor Bates lack of experience will offset Boo's questionable decision making. Cats should be OK, thank god the offense is loaded.

It's not over till we say it's over. I think the "team" will step to the plate and win one for Boo. Is the task a little tougher, certainly, but it's certainly not insurmountable either. I continue to like out chances. Without question, Bates will be taking tons of reps in the practices leading up to the remaining games. That certainly helps with his readiness. My biggest concern with Bates is that his game activites were certainly lessened over the past 3-4 games which I assume were more injury related than just mere performance issues. We certainly need him "healthy" at this point. Go Bobcats!!

I respectfully disagree. This team struggled offensively until Boo's arm was 100%. And while I think the rest of the team has made major strides, I have trouble imagining the offense sustaining drives without Boo's uncanny ability to make plays. Can a Phil Bate's offense convert a 3'rd and long? I hope so but I have my doubts.

The defense will likely need to win the game for Ohio.

Special teams, forcing turnovers, holding Temple to field goals. You obviously don't go into a game expecting your offense to do badly, but the defense has to put the game on its shoulders.

And you have to hope that they can spring one or two big plays in the running game. I agree sustained drives are unlikely. But explosive plays can make a bad offense look good and Bates certainly has the ability to hit a couple home runs off the edges.

I don't think Tettleton does anything better than Bates. That includes throwing the ball. I give Bates all the snaps, unless you want to go with a little wildcat action with one of the running backs for 5-10 snaps on Tuesday. Maybe insert 5 or so jet sweeps and end arounds to take some pressure off Bates.

Luckily they have extra time to install whatever they'll need to install.

Be careful about suggesting that Bates is not ready and fully capable of running our offense.  Others here might vehemently disagree.

Is it for sure that Franshaw is out of the Temples?

No it is not for sure...Boo is a gamer and it's going to take a lot more than a stupid A$$$$ bouncer for him to miss the game against temple.

If the bone around his eye is in fact broken to the point where the next hit could potentially end his life (only speculation from what the article said, not saying it is fact) or effect his life, i'm pretty sure he will be sitting out.  If it is just bruising then he may play.  Who knows, sources say that he was knocked out so I'm also wondering if he will be suffering concussions from this.

The opposing team sucks!

The defense needs to hold Temple to less than 20. I expect the OL to put this game on their shoulders. Ohio will need to sustain drives and convert 3rd downs. I hope to see OUr horses up front healthy, rested and ready for sixty snaps.

Fron what I understand, Bates will start, but Snyder will play a fair amount.

I've seen crazier things happen.

In August Frank said something to the effect if Bates could complete 50% of his passes he would be something very special for the MAC.  The guy has barely played with injuries and still leads the team in rushing.  He gets almost 6 yards every time he carries the ball.  I still like our chances.  The extra days off are just going to help him heal even more.

Ohio has at least 3 games remaining; Temple, Kent State, and the bowl game. The team has 10 days to prepare for Temple, 10 days to prepare for Kent State and 3-4 weeks to prepare for the bowl game. The team beats Temple and its probably playing for a MAC Championship with only a week to prepare after Kent State however that win over Temple like says any game after that will likely be no problem offensively.

According to what Ted posted in another thread, based on a tweet from Jason Arkley, Boo did not break anything as feared. The only concern is there might have been a slight concussion. Of course, those are tricky, but I would not rule him out from playing 11 days after the incident. Then again, it's the kind of thing where he might not play again this year.
