Just got home after doing my layman scouting of OUr next two opponents.

Kent would have been shut out if it wasn't for them blocking two Temple punts, one lead to an early 3 point lead and the other late in the 4th quarter to a touchdown.

Kent had a game plan of stopping the run and trying to pass.  Kent did a tremendous job of stopping the run giving up about 100 with a 30 plus yarder being the only big running play.  Kent was totally ineffective on offense.

Both teams brought lots of pressure on the QB with Temple's Girardi making some huge plays when getting flushed or rolling to his left (he's left handed).  Kent's DBacks were outmatched with the size and not having many guys back when you are jamming the box.

Temple didn't show much on offense.  They just kept doing quick routes to the left side and occasionally over the middle.  The running was right up the gut with little success against the Kent side.  Lots of passes were tossed by them and Girardi had a mixed day with numerous mistakes but also success on others.

Temple had lots of penalties and got sloppy at times with false starts and letting the play clock expire.  The big plays especially on third down were their savior or this might have been a very low scoring affair.  Two punts getting blocked and having punts inside the five (one a fair catch!) shows their special teams have some weakness.

Temple seems to be vanilla and just try to beat you straight up.  Neither QB runs the ball so I don't know how either will be when we run the option or when we get the ball to a wide receiver for a run.  Our multiple threat offense may give them fits and the QB will have to expect to have lots of pressure on him and make them pay if he gets away from the rush.  Temple's QB made Kent pay but not the other way around.

Good scouting report, MC.  And, nice to meet you at the tailgate.  I watched some of this game on channelsurfing.net, and the only thing I'd add is that I think our pass defense is a lot better than Kent's and I don't see them converting on us so regularly on 3rd and long.

Did I hear the one of the 'nouncers (sounded like the Temple guys) with about five minutes left in the game guarantee that Teimples would win the MAC East--this, apparently without any concern or idea of the health of Boo.

We need to go out there and get OUr respect back.

"Temple didn't show much on offense"

465 yards and 28 points. 22-29 368  ?

We're gonna punch all of you in the mouth for that classless remark your student made at last year's game. We remember.

Didn't show much of an offense and didn't show much on offense are two completely different thoughts.  Who said they didn't rack up yards and put points on the board?  You trying to stir something up because you came to Ohio last fall and are still bitter that the big team from the east got to carry their jocks home in their hands?

Perhaps you didn't like that I said you'd of had your third straight shut out if your punter hadn't been swarmed twice.

Learn how to read.

Don't come over here and preach to us about class. Your fans' tasteless remarks about our QB as he's in the hospital is beyond classless. I have no idea what "some student" said last year when we kicked your ass and frankly I don't care. Get over it.  Temple has only  beat 3 teams in the last 3 years with a winning record, know your place and keep your mouth shut.

p.s. how's that Heisman campaign working out for you?

Learn a little more about the game before you make another attempt at layman scouting...

Not to try and stop a good fight in progress . . . but I met some very nice Temple fans when they came to Athens last year.  I had one especially nice conversation at halftime with an Owl fan who explained to me how stupid the MAC was in not insisting that they come in for all sports.  He said we (the MAC) had them over a barrel and didn't realize it.  Now, any MAC fan who rags on the MAC Daddy Brain Trust is a good guy, IMHO.  Though I've noted some obnoxious posts on various boards, all the Temple fans I've actually talked to seemed like real nice folks.  Come on guys and gals, this ain't Oxford Tech we are talking about.

Yeah, but in this case, Temple is sorta like the guy in the Seinfeld episode who converted to Judaism just for the jokes.

Saw this on video at the end of the first half yesterday:  kents down about 21-3 trying to get yards from about its own 30 to tighten it at half.  On 3rd down and long, kents qb scrambled and ran out of bounds for a loss.  Stupid play as it stopped the clock and would give Temples about 50 seconds to try to add to lead.

But refs did not stop the clock.  The qb was not touched.  Just straight ran out of bounds.  Temple coach went nuts at the lock of clock stop--but refs didn't change it.
