I understand they are only allegations right now, but in the wake of Reggie Bush I can't help but think that when it rains, it pours.  As people come forward with information it helps to encourage others to do the same, and to be honest I can't wait because I think there are many more athletes to come.

I really don't think this is something new.  I think that persons from MSU spilled the beans as they were upset that CAM wanted to go there, but the very Reverend dad had a better deal for his church.  The southern schools have had a reputation for  making additional offerings other than grant-in-aids.  It has been a gentlemen's agreement in the south that one school would not rat on another.  MSU forgot that agreement.

DId you hear the father's non denial?  I think this story has legs.  Now we'll see what kind of integrity the NCAA, Auburn and the coaching fraternity have.

The SEC badge of courage is NCAA probation.  They may be the best conference but they also have the most violations of any conference in the Nation.  The greatest thing about the SEC, is they all go out of their way to cheat, and then go out of their way to turn the other schools in their league in for the same things.  At least other Conferences have maintained a code of silence.

This story has more than legs.

Monroe you may yawn, but this is going to be big.  I really feel that with investigation more will turn up involving several institutions.

1)  Probable effect on Ohio:  zero.

2)  Santayana/history.  There always have been and always will be scandals and rule skirters--from politics to finance to sports, etc. etc.  This holds about as much interest for me and relevance to our tussle coming up on Tuesday as the sun rose in the east today.

Have fun with it if you will but it's just like another thread--many per year/never ends--about how we're on the path to joining a bigger-time conference even though our attendance at Peden is, sadly, indifferent.

This is one of the most epic stories in recent college football history.

Yea, some people actually like to keep up with sports outside of Athens. Anything that includes money laundering, extortion, recorded phone calls, the FBI, Heisman trophy, and BCS national championship is interesting in my book.

Then you need to get another book.  Or to pick up a newspaper in which every single day you can read about apparent corruption in government, industry, sports, finance, etc.

Yeah, this is a really earth-shaking, monumental event that will change everything...except that it never has and never will... from Reggie Bush to UKentucky cash falling out of FedEx envelopes to Pete Rose to Paul Hornung to Jim Thorpe ad infinitum.

If there continues to be money involved, there will continue to be corruption.

Yawn.

I care about sports, not that other stuff, so it is a huge story to me and 99% of college football fans. You say it won't change anything. You're right, it won't change the Heisman or BCS NCG, or Auburn's future. Oh, wait. Anytime this decision can have an impact that can change the outcome of the season results, I don't see how you can be interested.

Unless you don't know anything outside MAC football, then I understand.

Monroe, it was Emory Freight, but hey don't let facts get in your way, you rarely do!

Wanamaker--Thanks for that correction.  The earth's now righted on it's axis onnacounta your excellent effort.  You really got right to the point of the issue.  Your self-righteousness is tiresome.  I get it.  the coaches are always right and I should never voice an opinion about what I see. Clue:  it's 2010 and if you don't know about the effectiveness of your advertising/marketing budget--if you're missing 50% of measurement on that--then you're many, many decades behind the times and you should focus your efforts that way, instead of on a for-fun-only message board.  Try showing a sense of humor or admitting that you may not always be right.  Humans do that.  Which, of course, raises another issue abut you.

Thank you for participating.

Hey Monroe,

Still think this story doesn't impact our world?  Play the interview video...Dr David Ridpath (former Compliance Officer and current Sports Admin Prof at Ohio's First & Finest) speaking on possible eligibility complications arising from this situation.

That's right...SEC craziness results in another quality Ohio product speaking to the Nation from Athens...

I agree with Monroe on this. If the NCAA really had any integrity and really wanted to do something about this, they would have done it a long time ago. Cam Newton is just this year's player that might have gotten caught. I really think nothing will drastically change from the allegations. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think so. Heck, if the NCAA had any integrity we wouldn't have the !%!#$#!^!&!! stupid BCS system, we'd have true play-offs instead. So I agree, yawn...........

'36--Again, this is the same story over and over again.  As usual the waves are biggest near the source and have a small impact over a wide range.

Cam Newton..yawn.

Except that the FBI is still investigating and some of the NCAAs rulings depend on the FBI's findings.

It took the NCAA 5 years to hammer USC and Bush, why do you expect a speedy announcement?

This is turning into something much bigger than Cecil looking for PFP.

I know what you meant Monroe...I was just using it as an excuse to draw attention to the fact that ESPN contacted an Ohio Sports Admin resource for the interview...

That Ohio Sports Admin person volunteers to give comments to anything that will get him face time.  He loves the spotlight and is marketing himself any chance he gets.

Not all face time is good face time.  The guy will probably never be able to get a job in an ICA department again, due to NCAA violations and probations under his watch.
