My thought on the Kent game

The battle on both sides of the line was dominated by Kent. I didn't see that one coming.

Watching games in that weather is absolutely miserable. It seems like every trip I make to Northeast Ohio is like that. I am so glad I live south of I-70. I tough it out for the games, but the cold and wind combo is unenjoyable.

I'm not going to go back and analyze every play call, but I do not understand one that I think showed we were not there to be aggressive. Kent was punting the ball around the 40 early in the game with a really stiff wind at their back. We did not even rush the punter, and put the return on instead. Predictably, the ball sailed way past the goal line. Why not try to pressure the punt and assume if the punt doesn't get blocked, it's a touchback. Later in the game, we did the exact same thing and the punter muffed the snap. He then had plenty of time to casually pick it up and pin us on the 1.

The on-field promos were a joke. The guy on the microphone was awful. It was like they pulled a random student out of the crowd and said, "Do these promos as well as Louis the Weatherman does the forecast." If I was a sponsor, I would quickly stop writing those checks. It makes me realize how good Brian is on both the football field and at the Convo with all of our promos and contests.

Did anyone else notice that all the Bobcats huddled around one of the two portable heaters the enitre time they were on the sideline? They had coats on and took turns rotating to be the closest one to the heat. Kent's entire sideline was in short sleeves and up on their feet ready to go the whole game. I did not want to be there in that weather either, but it was discouraging to watch a team that is only two hours south of Kent act like they had never played in the cold. It reminded me of watching some old Miami(Fl) teams struggle in Morgantown late in the season.

It was rough all the way around. I hope the sting is not forgotten next year when it comes time to close teams out.

I was there too and right up front. What I noticed was that the players weren't ready for any challenges yesterday. When it first became apparent they would have to fight they already threw in the towel. They sat right at the benches and looked frustrated. The coaches were trying to get their spirits up. Hell, the three of us who were standing there tried to do the same. Part of the game yesterday was continuing with the run and not becoming aggressive in play calling. But the rest were that the players might have came in with that sense of entitlement that killed Temple. When you come in with that sense and things go wrong then that is terrible to morale.

The opposing team sucks!
