Yes, this game sucked.  I wanted to bawl my eyes out it sucked so bad.  I stood right at the front row and screamed my lungs out right up until that clock hit zero.  We should have beat them....but we didn't.  We lost and for the 3rd time toinght (ugh) they announced on ESPN that Miami is going to the MACC and not us.  But you know what?  This season has been great.  We had 2 back to back winning seasons.  We continued our streak against the Chickens.  We ruined Temple's MAC run again.  We did what no one though we'd do at the beginning of the season, we had a winning one.  We scored 30+ points in 7 straight games, which correct me if I'm wrong breaks a school record.  Yes, we do need to play better teams, but the problem is we need to get out of the MAC somehow because how can you play better teams when the majority of your conference is crap and the majority of your schedule is your conference?  Now as for those of you who say we don't deserve a bowl win...I want you to go out, pick up a ball bat, and hit yourselves in across the head with it.  If they won 8 games, 7 being in a row, 2 of which were the top 2 of the MAC East, then they deserve a friggin bowl...and if it's during break then I will do my damndest to go.

Who's with me on this????  Where the HELL IS THE BOBCAT PRIDE?????  It sounds like we're the freaking Titanic in here.  Let's pull it together people!!!!!!  Part of the process of being a good team is having loyal rabid fans who will defend their team despite the bad periods.

Don't deserve a bowl, HA!!!  You sound like a bunch of whiny Notre Dame fans.

Do you seriously think this team deserves to go to a bowl game after the patsy wins they've racked up? I'm not asking if we should accept a bid if invited (we should), but do we really deserve it with 7 bad FBS wins (loosely) and 1 bad FCS win? I would say no. Sorry.

So Temple was a Patsy win...the team that was picked to go win it this year?  Miami is a patsy team when they blew out Temple worse than we did with a 3rd string QB?  We didn't just beat patsy teams, we annihilated them.  In the last 7 games before this we racked up somewhere between 210 and 230 points.  Did you see that happening.  I don't care if we have beaten patsy teams.  We are 8-4, we are bowl eligible.  If we are eligible then we clearly deserve to be there.

I guess the first question would be do you think an 8-4 record in the MAC is comparable to 8-4 in the Big 10, SEC or any other major conference?

I love football but having 70 some teams being in a bowl game is a joke!

One of the posters on one of these threads calls for a playoff and the MAC having an automatic spot.  For crying out loud, name one team the past 50 years from the MAC who was a legitimate National Championship team.

The Bobcats overcame a great deal of adversity this year including loosing our two top players and should be commended for having a solid season overall.  The point that several of us are trying to make is whether or not the MAC is a legtimate conference to compete for a National Championship and whether there are too many bowls games, many of which have more empty seats that seats that are filled.

If we can't financially afford to host Northwestern and Virginia Tech in our own stadium and if we can't get better attendance, then it is reasonable to have a discussion of whether Ohio/MAC should stay Division 1 in football?

As the Love has stated, unless we can get a better home schedule and at least have some second tier Big 10 teams visit Peden, the the MAC will always have a minor league image and a large percentage of Ohio Students will continue to not attend as many games as we would hope.

Some of the before mentioned points are things we can control.  Other factors that we can't control is the location or access to attending a game at Peden.  That impacts recruiting visits, parents/recruits factoring how their parents can attend from a far distance and the logistics of major conference teams flying into Columbus and then bussing down to Athens.

It is not an easy answer, but my main point is that some of us need to be more realistic about what a 7 or 8 win season in the MAC means compared to the same number of wins in a major conference.

In terms of the BCS, the answer I think is pretty simple.  You take the top four teams in the current system and you rotate the semi-finals within  the current bowl structure and then have the National Championship game two weeks later.  For example, one year the winners of the Rose (1 vs 4) plays the winner of the (Orange Bowl 2 vs 3).  The next year the Sugar and Fiesta hosts the semi-finals.  This enables the current major bowls to be maintained and most years would allow the Boise States or TCU to have an opportunity.  If there is a once in a lifetime MAC team that can run the table including playing a very strong out of conference schedule that might include a major upset, then possibly that team could be part of the equation.

My hope this season was for Ohio to win the MAC, something we have not done since 1968.  I believe we are the only team (other than Temple of course) who has not won the title since then.  Many of us yesterday felt that if we can't even earn a berth in the league championship game, then what is the point heading to a third tier bowl and possibly loosing money.  As I stated before, the argument of having the 15 extra practices is not that strong of an argument.

As for pride I believe we all have it.  Those that contribute to the board and/or contribute to OBC obvisously give a crap about our athletics.  I don't post often here.  I usually read the sometimes wise, sometimes unwise posts of others.  If we get a bowl game great, if not it isn't the end of the world.  A bowl game is good exposure for our school with less resources than an OSU.  It will help with recruiting so we can re-tool for the future. If we don't go to a bowl game perhaps it will leave a bitter taste in the mouths of the underclassmen to learn the importance of finishing out a generally good season and to never under estimate an opponent. Lots of ???s for next season on offense.  Considering what our coaching staff had available to them with injuries, lack of depth, and dynamic talent at key positions we had a better season than I expected going into 2010.

Amen to CeramicBobcat's post.  Some of the negative posts here make me laugh.  When did we as Ohio football fans get so spoiled that we think winning two-thirds of our football games means we're terrible?  News flash: for most of my 47 years of living, Ohio's stunk at football, just stunk.  People complain we play patsies now.  Yes we do.  But we've always played patsies.  The MAC has always been a weak conference from top to bottom.  Sure, there have been many years when 1 or 2 MAC teams have just been outstanding.  But even in those years the remaining 8-10 MAC teams were terrible, at least compared to other big time leagues.  At least now we're beating the patsies-during my lifetime we never did that.  Truth be told, to me we're in the golden age of Ohio football.

Ohio's best win aside from Temple might have been Wofford, ranked #7 in the FCS poll and getting a first round bye in the playoffs. Ohio feasted on weaker teams and played the underdog spoiler roll in Oxford and Philly. However when push came to shove and Ohio was a road favorite they didn't get it done. Some teams are just better as an underdog for whatever reason and that's Ohio this year.

As far as a bowl game goes, the exposure to me only really makes sense if Ohio is playing Boise State on their blue turf. They've obviously built quite the following and that game will get more bowl commercials, hype, and talk on ESPN than any other third world bowl Ohio could get sent to. The Michigan AD is on the record as saying he didn't mind going to a bowl last year because his school finally made money due to not going. The only good thing that comes out of a third world bowl is the extra practice time you get but I'm not sure the athletic department needs to take a close to $300k hit just for some extra cold practices in Athens.

Ohio was picked to finish second in the MAC East in the official preseason poll. Ohio got three first-place votes. One voter picked the Bobcats to win the MAC Championship. Maybe some of them are Elton Alexander's intellectual equals, and losing Keller and Brazill was hard to see coming, but I don't think your recollection is accurate at all.

Like I said....Do you want to act like  Notre Dame fan???  Do you like acting like a Notre Dame fan.  You are talking to someone who is tired of having people mistake my school with OSU, doing so to my face.  Every chance we get on ESPN2 is gold for me because it gives a chance for anyone who looks up will go "oh so there's another OHIO in Ohio, so whats with Ohio State calling themselves THE Ohio?"  and then go look us up to learn more about us.  I'm not saying that will happen each time we're on TV, but it opens up the chance.  And you want to turn this down because????
