Hard Loss

I feel horrible for the loss. It was very hard listening to the poor effort that we brought to Kent. Plain and simple, they wanted to win more than we did.

Before anyone melts down we need to look at this season as a whole. What a great ride, and yes this team deserves a bowl game (and they could use the extra practice).
My guess is that Miami will get trounced in the title game and I suspect we would have been as well if we had won the right to play in the championship game.

Ohio is coming up as a program, sometimes slower than we would like but make no mistake, Ohio is now a force in the MAC. We couldn't say that a few short years ago.

Look at is this way I am upset that we layed a big egg. At least we had an egg to lay. Not too long ago we were the bottom feeders of our conference. It just really sucks to get beat by Kent when after Temple we were all but a sure lock for the big MAC game. Now Miama gets tp gp instead of us. God please have the Buckeyes get beat that might make the pain go away.

No doubt about it - tough loss. This one hurt like hell; however, there are a lot of things to be thankful for about this team and Ohio University. We were 1-3 to start the season. We lost to Toledo, Marshall and State. I wanted to give up listening to this team, but didn't. Why didn't I? Because we are Bobcats. We don't give up when things are bad. That is what this university is all about. Perhaps we will go to a bowl game. Perhaps, we will win our first ever bowl game because we are not so injured and beaten up that we are able to play a full force (thanks to an extra week off). This team has been through devastating losses to key players that would have crippled most teams. Instead, they ripped off seven wins in a row and put us in a place where we could have played for a championship. Not bad. Let's applaud this team's effort this year, and get behind them for OHIO's first ever bowl victory over whom ever we have the opportunity to play.

Losing happens. But we played like a team that wasn't prepared and we didn't hit back once we got punched. We played like we had already clinched the division and the ticket to Detroit had already been handed to us. That's what's so hard to accept.

Why was this a "great ride?" - We beat absolutely nobody. Sure we did it 7 times in a row, but we got thrashed in Columbus, lost to Marshall and gave Miami a division title. If this is a great ride, what exactly constitutes a rough ride?

Ohio beat Miami and Temple. No, these are not BCS powerhouse teams. However, this was far better than what we at Ohio have come to expect for the past 40 years. I began watching the Bobcats when I became a student in the 1980's. Believe me, I have sat through rain, snow, cold and everything in between, just to see the Cats lose in the 4th quarter nearly every time. We could not buy a win over the worst of the worst MAC teams. So put this season in perspective. Next to most of the previous 150+ years of OHIO football, this has been a pretty good season. Like it or not. I've lived in Wisconsin for the past 15 years so I don't know what is going on in Athens as far as trying to attract fans etc. I do know that when I see a game on television the stadium is usually more empty than full. Why do the students, alumni and people of souteastern Ohio deserve anything better than what we have? OHIO's budget is only a fraction of that of BCS schools like State, but we think we should go out on the field and kick their ass. Really? Is that how it works? Perhaps when we can put 20,000 butts in Pedan Stadium week in week out, then we can have expectations. We are getting far more out of this team than what we pay for. Too bad if that hurts anyones feelings. We are exceeding expectations.

You tell us, Love. Ohio was 7-2 against teams that work with same resources, 1-0 against a team it has better resources than and 0-2 vs. teams that have better resources. I don' t give people BB guns and expect them to go out and shoot elephants. You do. All you can ask people to do is outperform those working with the same resources.

Thank you, Ted. This is the same guy who was so proud for having decried the name calling by the Ozone at the Convo last week. Im sure he'll call me a d- bag or one of his other cowardly epithets.

The guy I called a jackass, was telling us Ohio can't recruit because our students are drunks that are too busy cheering for Ohio State. I said it was ignorant and called him a jackass, which he is for making that comment. All of a sudden, I'm a target for defending Athens and the school. Odd.

If you want to take your anger about the Kent game out on me, because I tell you the truth about our lackluster wins - fine. But, I'm not going to sit here and cry alligator tears about not playing in the MAC Title game, because frankly - we didn't deserve it.

We got handled at Kent, so we do not deserve to be in the title game. Had we won, then we definitely deserved to be in the title game - having taken out the other two east contenders on the road. But we didn't, so no trip. I think everyone would agree that whether it was us, or Miami playing, Northern is the class of the MAC and should win the title game.

Did we "earn" a bowl game? I'm not sure half the teams playing in bowls "earned" their way there, but that doesn't matter. Do we deserve a bowl game? Yes, given the current structure of the bowl system.

Sure it was a great ride. There were many downs I agree but there were also many ups. We are talking about young student athletes not seasoned professionals. We need to give them a break when it comes to having an off game.
I stand by this team win or lose.
I am sure glad the love is always the smartest guy in he room.
