MAC teams are unfortunately well known for not travelling well at all. However, New Orleans is as great a venue for a bowl game as Ohio can ever expect to play. There is the French Quarter, numerous great local restaurants to choose from (shrimp, crawfish, BBQ, etoufee, red beans and rice), a number of museums, shops galore, the unique Cajun culture, etc. and its all in walking distance from the hotels and the football stadium. The football stadium is an indoor dome so the weather for the game will be perfectly comfortable. The game is on a weekend instead of a weeknight, so this makes it a great weekend trip for everyone and you don't have to take off work to go. And being a full week before Christmas, you can't claim that the holiday and family prevents you from going.

So if Ohio doesn't bring a horde of fans to the game, they never will. The Cats cannot expect to ever have a better destination for an Ohio bowl game than this one. It'll be a great trip for everyone who comes.
