Do you think for a moment that Jim Tressel will sit any of the five players involved in selling their gifts that they received in order to getdiscount services(ILLEGAL).  Not for a moment did it even cross his mind.....It didn't even cross the NCAA's mind (to much money involved , boosters included).  The Boosters would run Tressel out of town in a second if he did what Solich did in  the SUPERDOME.

Five games in 2011, should have started with the bowl game this year....but again too much money involved...nothing to do with rules especially when it impacts the ones making the rules....

Let us see if Tressel does sits Pryor the way Solich sat Boo....doubt it......

They do have the appeal process that could last until after the bowl.  But they shouldn't have ruled out sitting them for the Sugar Bowl, especially since all five could jump to the NFL this year.  Makes the whole suspension look meaningless.

I genuinely believe Solich's handling of Boo was not a mistake. On the Boo TD, the only reason Phil came off the field was because he kept motioning Boo in and holding on to his shoulder pads. And after the TD Frank went right back to his game plan which I heard from a player before the game was to have Phil have total control for the first two possessions no matter what and have him keep going if we scored (we technically scored even though Boo threw the ball). Phil was allegedly on a real tight leash but at 7-7 and eventually 7-14, things weren't that bad... I hope it was a message to the players that no one is bigger than the team. I hope they received it.

Last years team had a chance to respond to adversity and show us what they're made of:
  • A home loss to Kent
  • A MACC loss
  • A bowl loss
How did they respond:
  • A road loss to Kent for a trip to the MACC
  • A bowl loss
Is this a coincidence? Are Frank's messages not being received? I don't know. What I do know is that there are things in this world that you can poke, and they won't move. And there are other things in this world that you can poke and they will bite back. I hope this team bites back in '11.

Phil was not going to move the ball at all.... oh but that was the plan from the beginning,,,,after the first half was over why did phil start again???? Oh yeah to slow down the pace....good thing he slowed the pace down, they might have put 100 on the score board...

My point was Tressel isn't going to sit his number one QB for nothing....

The times Pryor was out of a game this year made one thing clear: without him, A&M goes from top 10 to second 25, at best.  Considering how badly the folks in Cowtown want a win against an SEC team, sitting Pryor for even a play or two hasn't even crossed their minds.

Exactly my point!!!!!

You woulda thought that solich really wanted his first bowl win and Boo was his  best chance......look at the stats...who moved the ball.....

Oh I don't know anything though......but getting beat the way we did proved nothing.....that game sure did wonders for recruiting i bet.

Personally, I think the game plan all along was to run the ball.  Boo ended up eligible so i don't think there was any "punishment" there.

That 's why I just didn't understand the game plan.  From last years Troy Bowl game vs.MAC and the end of the season it was obvious with Troy this would be a shootout.  Certainly, midway thru the second quarter one could see it coming to that.

My thought is the game plan stunk from the start and i get the feeling from the press conference the Coach sorta realized that.  We just chose not to change until the game was way out of control.

I just can't understand why you go with a two headed QB when only one of them gives you enough options to win a game and is the best passer in school history.  Bedides, Boo has always been an adequate runner.

Good news is it's now over and time to move on..

ddub63.......Your comment about Frank sitting Boo in the 1st half due to his academic issue was something I thought about as well.
\My question about that is "How do we know for sure that was the reason"?
As a follow up "Why wouldn't Frank or the university make that decision public either prior to or after the game"?
I'm sure that many of us would like to know and if that was the reason than we should applaud the university for taking a hard stance.

Agree with you, sort of... Although my guess is most people thinking this way DIDN'T GO to the game. Easier for you to say that from afar. And I'm not saying I totally disagree with you either. But....

On the other hand, it would have been helpful to know if the coaches planned on essentially assuring us of a non-competitive game by playing the non-starter until the game was out of hand. I could have written the U an extra $500 check, bought new tires for my car, and still had some to spare if they told me to stay at home because they weren't going to play the best available.

I'm a bit worried about this fledgling traveling Ohio fan base when we continue to get throttled on a national stage. OUr 'die-hard' numbers at bowls are what we're going to be stuck with unless we have significant improvement. Especially when there aren't easily available answers on why the best people for the job weren't on the field.

Mike Johnson, if you're reading this, I hope you can share some of your email thread I had the opportunity to read. Lots of good arguments on both sides of the fence, pertaining to how both OU and OSU handled their situations. I'm not sure which camp I'm in yet.

How many of the 5 players will be drafted by the NFL and won't have to serve a suspension ? The NCAA needs to cancel some available scholarships at OSU if this happens. Some type of punishment needs to be enforced against the Suckeyes.

You can be 100% sure that the NCAA will thoroughly and swiftly investigate, handing down due punishment.

Unless the golden goose is threatened...in which case hem haw maybe well we'll see or whatever.
