Why is there so much love for fiami this off season. I realize the sports media doesn't pay close attention to the MAC but they are all in lock step in their predictions of a MAC championship for them.

We get them in Athens and have a good streak going against them, so if it comes down to us and them in the East I like the odds.

They have a decent coach and 2 proven QB's.....that helps.

Anytime though when you are comparing 1 program to another and in this case Ohio and Fiami with Ohio holding 5 consecutive wins over Fiami you've got to say our program has eclipsed theirs. Think Virginia Tech vs. Miami, VT started winning every year against the Canes and pretty soon they became the ascendant program. Ohio is progressively more impressive each year against the Redhawks with each win too showing evidence of a talent differential.

Hammer on the head. :) Doc, whithout any official survey results, just too many years following CFB, the most important factor in winning championships is a returning starter at QB. JMHO, IMHO, IMO, Just Saying

This exactly.

It seems to me that usually when predicting next year's results, media tends to look at a schools QB and RB situation first. Remember a few years ago when Georgia was preseason #1? Its because they had Stafford and Moreno. Unfortunately the rest of their team wasn't very good, and it showed.

We have a solid team coming back next year. Except our QB and RB situation is a bit unsure so people aren't as quick to put us on top yet.

Miami led the MAC in returning starters last season and most publications had them going at least 6-6 if not better. From that standpoint Toledo looks like the team out of the west plus they add to what they have a solid recruiting class. Miami's new coach adds an unpredictability factor but they have quite a few returning starters from last year. To win that MAC Championship in 2010 Miami had a lot of luck; us dropping Toledo and KSU games and beating by chance a more talented NIU team. Those factors say they'll fall back to earth some and probably be good for a 7-5 season. The East is a mess next year with Temple, Miami and Kent losing coaches and Frank is best positioned to take advantage of it. Noah and LaVon will be back, Prior and Koval will be eligible. Six QB's on the roster for Ohio. One of the easist non-conference schedules in the MAC for Ohio in 2011.

We all know that the MAC media latch on to last year's winner as the favorite for the next year.  But at least in the East they haven't been right for the past eight or ten years, so if they pick Fiami, the Cats will have a better chance.  That said, what impressed about Fiami last year was that they won their last four regular season games and the MAC Championship game without Dysert and the bowl game without Dysert and their head coach.  This says they might be able to adapt easily to their new coach's scheme.  And they'll have both Dysert and Boucher back at QB, so they will be very formidable offensively.

Exactly the way I like it...

Not that I agree about the RB...I think we're more solid there than we've been in quite a while...
