With his contacts at Nebraska and the difference in salary, he's probably gone. It's surprising that we don't lose more position coaches than we do. Loyalty to Frank meansa lot to these guys, but family comes first.

In all honesty I would think that out of respect for Frank Nebraska would not approach our coaches. There are many others out there to choose from why Ohio?

Come on, really? Nebraska can pay a crapload more, and our coaches would be silly not to use connections within the profession to support their families. I'm sure Nebraska would respectfully ask Frank if they could talk to a certain coach, and if Frank were the kind of guy who wouldn't say yes, coaches probably wouldn't come to work for him.

I think it's a sign that Nebraska DOES respect Coach. He rebuilt the program first by hiring very good assistants who can recruit, train and teach good players. You don't see assistants from most other MAC schools being courted by Big Six. Let's face it, Nebraska is in the business of winning 10-12 games a year; Solich won 9 and got the boot. So, like us, they're looking for good coaches from winning programs at whatever level.

Coach Els has done a nice job at Ohio and I know one of his former position players who spoke very highly of him. If he has an opportunity to move up and better provide for his family, then I hope he is able to.

On OhioBobcats.com assistant head coach duties are included in his job description. I wasn't aware of that before. I assume this would make him even more qualified for the position. I agree that a person's family has to come first and if he is hired, I also wish him well. Also, I think it is safe to say that if he gets hired could help with the healing of the wounds between Solich and Nebraska by connecting the two programs a little more. Might as well play off of each other. We play at two different levels in the FBS.

Hi, i'm new here, but anyways also have heard this being talked about on husker forums that Tim Albin is a possible replacement coach on the offensive side of the ball(though Burton Burns from bama is a possibility). Also one of the reasons Els is being looked at(or hired not sure where they are right now in that process) is he already knows most of the schemes the Pelini's want to run, therefore giving them more time to spend with the new secondary coach.

As an aside, i loved the campus in Athens when my dad and i took a visit when i was in highschool(father moved from lincoln to columbus when i was a junior in high school though i decided to move back to lincoln after a few months). Anyways, again i hope i didn't ruffle any feathers with what i said i'm just relaying info that i have heard in lincoln.

If you're talkin about OUr OC then on this forum you need not worry....I'm OK with him but some would help him pack his bags.

Els to Nebraska is being reported as a done deal. Tough loss for Ohio, but you can't fault coach Els. It's a step up in programs and, probably most important, Lincoln is his hometown.
