After reading about someone getting a Leon Williams jersey, I kind of got to thinking. I played a sport at Ohio University and I was never given the opportunity to keep or even purchase a jersey I used. Not everyone would be interested in this, but I imagine a good amount of athletes would love to have been able to do that. How much did they charge for that used Leon jersey? 10 dollars or so? Heck, if it was mine I'd pay 2-3 times that just as something for myself. I'm not faulting the person who bought the jerseys, but what is with Ohio Athletics? Was it just my sport (baseball), or is it the entire athletic department? I was able to keep one generic practice shirt that I used for four years while playing there. As is the case with most t-shirts of that style, you can probably guess it's close to worthless. Also got to keep the hats, but come on those were torn up as well from every day use. I would have just liked the opportunity to buy (you know, give the school money) for any one of the four or five jerseys we used while there. I wouldn't expect a freebie, but I would definitely pay more than 20 dollars for something I wore on gamedays for four seasons.

$15.  I believe players now get a framed jersey on senior day.

All sports? So say even the Leon Williams jersey just now made it to the surplus sale. That's about the same time I was there. If it's in good shape and the coach still keeps contact information for all the players who stayed and graduated and played four years for you, they can't give a call or something saying "hey, you want to buy any of these things you wore for competition before we sell them for practically nothing out of a box?"

I bought a Chris London jersey several years ago.  He worked for me while in college and was a great guy.  When i told him he was surprised.  He said at that time they did not give them an opportunity to buy them.  He called me the next year and told me to look out for another one and he would pay me for it.  He wanted to give it to his mom.  I mailed it the next day to him.  Our athletes should get a jersey from the school.  Hopefully they are now like was mentioned earlier.

Maybe I'm felling pessimistic this morning  but I sense an NCAA investigation looming.  After all, if a player can't sell personal jewlery related to an NCAA sanctioned competition, how can an athlete be trusted with a uniform?

Gosh, seems like a double standard or something and the NCAA wouldn't allow that , would they??

It's just your sport.  Baseball holds onto everything.  This is evident by the sweats the team is issued from 1991.

Got some great stuff on Saturday and think it's great that fans/students/supporters/etc have the opportunity to get some Bobcat gear at a reasonable price and represent the Cats!

I am the owner of the Stafford Ownes Jersey he wore his freshman year on the sidelines while he red-shirted.  I wonder what it would get on E-Bay?
