Sorry if this has already been posted. I'm more of a basketball guy,  but this video is absolutely unmissable:

Cool video.  On a TV interview, they said the shot where he's in the basketball arena and he throws it over the 4 basketball hoops took 20 attempts.  That's pretty good considering he is sitting down.  It took 1 full day to do the filming.  I really liked where he hit the mid-air ball that was kicked for the field goal.

I'm in grad school with a girl from UCONN (and have managed to get her to root for The Old Green and White when it doesn't conflict with her UCONN loyalties) and we've been discussing this video. The only conclusion I can reach after seeing some of these throws is that he must be a gawd-awful decision maker in in-game situations. UCONN played 3 QBs last year (he wasn't one of them, and he wasn't red shirting...don't know if he was injured) and they were all three pretty bad. For this guy not to have gotten on the field at all...

Spent some time at Patriots camp last summer and the QB's spent a lot of time between drills throwing into trash cans.

Not surprisingly, Tom Brady was significantly better at putting it in the can than the Brian Hoyer.

How does their IPF compare with the standard for IPF's?  Looks pretty nice to me but I have no basis for comparison.

UConn's is quite large, the size of the Pats, which are both tall enough in which to punt for the most past, and about 80 yards long.  Right now our IPF is not planned to be that tall or long.  Donations significant beyond the Walter's could change that, but we have a pretty tight footprint in which to shoehorn ours also.

How do you know this about the design?

Where is the IPF then going to be? And will it be directly attached to Peden?

The Shmenkman is a beautiful IPF...good lord. Hopefully the Walter is 1/2 as nice as the Shmenkman.

The present plan is detached and in the area of the practice fields.  For a number of reasons, not the least of which is that only one position in the entire athletic program's field of play, punter, would benefit from an 80 foot tall structure.  It would also be an aesthetically awkward structure if it were higher significantly higher than the Peden East stands and Ping.  Finally, once you get the base structure speced out it would take another $1.5-2MM to add each additional 10 feet in height, and there isn't just isnt the cash to put that kind of bank into the building, which I think shows good fiscal restraint by the University.  You have to remember, nearly everyone is going to want a building that fits in aesthetically due to the proximity of it to the rest of the campus, and the really big IPF's typically set apart from the rest of their campus in an athletic "Campus", which allows you to build a monstrosity without is looking out of place.

Agreed on not trying to build a monster IPF. Western Michigan did that and their stadium looks like a monstrocity. Size is less important I think than presentation on South Green Drive which is going to drive the impression on whether its a nice facility or not. From what I'm hearing it sounds like the building will be an adjunct to rec center though seperate and the multi purpose billing will serve to think of it more as a student facility that just happens to also be the IPF. As I have said above if it looks nice on the outside and fills out the athletics mall along south green drive it will be a success.

FWIW, I think Western Michigan's IPF looked pretty sweet, and would be happy if Ohio could do the same. But since our end zones really don't have a lot of empty space behind them, probably not feasible.

My initial guess is that if they don't connect it with Peden, it may be to appease the football/athletics haters in Athens.

Count me in that hater group because a football only facility of that magnitude is a waste of resources. The IPF sounds like its going to be a pretty basic deal but better than an inflatable structure.

The Capital Football Stadium and Baskeball arena are connected.  They utilize the same press box and suites for both sports.
