Hello Bobcat fans.  Just wanted to ask how many are coming down to New Mexico to watch your team play?  Las Cruces is a beautiful city, great eats and nice people.  Nice size town (about 100,000) not to big or to small.   Hope some of you can make it and enjoy the great weather!

I'm in dancing Aggie.  Any thoughts you want to share for passing the time in Las Cruces that weekend?  I used to live in Denver and part of my sales territory included NM, but it's been too long to remember any "must see's/must do's'.  And how about recommendations for Mexican food?  No honkey mouth Mexican, but real green chili Mexican.

The Few, The Proud, The Bobcats!

And for the record, I hate tOSU, and Ricordati and Torgerson are DB's.

I'm most likely in, although I'll be coming from California instead of my home in Colorado.

Wish I could come. I used to live in New Mexico in the mid 70's(Albuquerque) and made a couple of visits to your great city and loved it.

I wish I could make this trip -- work won't allow this year. It's been a long time since my folks lived in Dona Ana, County, but I loved visiting Cruces. I found the desert beautiful and the people are friendly.

If you're looking for something to do within driving distance I recommend a visit to the Organ Mountains at sunrise or sunset. Lots of wildlife. White Sands isn't too far either. There was an open air market in the downtown area -- one week day and Saturday morning as I recall. Local produce and handcrafted items.

In terms of eats, you could probably find something decent in Old Mesilla, but I recommend heading out of town to Chope's in LaMesa. I assume that it's still owned by the Benavidez family. Chope was a very nice man and his place was a must stop for any Democrat seeking votes in that part of New Mexico. Lots of pol photos on the walls when I went there in the 1980s/90s. They served the best rellenos I've ever eaten. Authentic food made in the family kitchen when I was going there. The hours were limited -- just a couple hours at lunch and in the evening. it was always packed.

If you're around El Paso at lunch or dinner time, you could go to the Cattleman's Steakhouse. Quite an experience.

Hey guys,

Here are a list of good local eats:

1. Si Senor-Mexican
2. La Posta in Old Mesilla-Mexican
3. Lorenzos-in Old Mesilla-Italian (My personal fav)
4. St. Clairs Winery & Bistro in Old Mesilla-Local wines and delicious food
5. Dicks Cafe-Local mexican food and good burgers
6. Andele's in Old Mesilla-Mexican
7. Zeffiro's Pizzeria-Downtown Las Cruces & University location

These are my local favs.  Of course we have Olive Garden, Red Lobster and the other chain food restaurants but local food is the best IMO.  You could pretty much pick any little mexican food joint and your going to get homemade good mexican food.  Best Chili in the world in this valley.  Old Mesilla is a little historic town connected to Las Cruces that has other restaurants that are good.  It also has a neat plaza that is a must see if you are a visitor.  Hope you guys enjoy the visit and hope we send you all home sad!  Here is our media guide so you know what we are about.

I really love New Mexico and Las Cruces is one of my stopping places several times per year. Gotta love that green chili. My truck caught on fire going up the pass this spring.......what a mess.......lots of nice folks in the area that helped.
I don't like the speed cameras......ouch!!!

Hanging in there!

GO BOBCATS!

Couple things...

1. AWESOME media guide. Very big time. Love the multimedia and functionality. Well done.
2. Doug Martin as OC. That could hurt the Cats. He knows us well. Savvy hire for one OOC game.
3. UTEP draws big crowds in Las Cruces. I'm guessing less then 20k for us. Very similar attendance patterns b/w the two schools.
4. Maybe the least impressive FB alumni list I've ever seen. Bobby Humphrey may be the only person I've ever heard of, and I'm not sure the Bobby Humphrey from NMSU is the same Bobby Humphrey I'm thinking of.
5. They spelled Schaus's name wrong (It was spelled Shaus).
