Certainly can't regress much on either front.

I fail to see how this is any different than the status quo. There's currently on demand video and live games (well, when it works)...what's really going to change?

Either way, nothing could get worse than "All-MACess". Works less than half the time, and when it does work, the video quality is terrible. For a great example of how web streaming should be done, check out the Horizon League.

I guess I'm hoping for it to work more often and be easier to navigate.  Mobile device access would be new, too.  Completely agree with your points on All-MACcess' functionality and the HLN.

"...digital network...content management...fan experience...digital media services...connect...interact...technology advantange...connected platforms...aggregate, manage and distribute premium content...extensive digital library of exclusive MAC sports content...strengthen their brand across new digital platforms...multi-platform access...multimedia..."

What a bunch of crapola jargon.  Really; who wrote that stupidity.  Does anyone actually speak that way or understand such pointless doubletalk

Apparently they're trying to say that we'll be able to get MAC video over the 'net, however one may access the 'net.

I have no clue if they plan to make OHIO games available live.  Or, if they so plan, whether I'll actually be able to view it instead of it being the same old can't see it/not worth paying for garbage.

Too funny.  Agree with Monroe.  Read the whole thing and didn't understand a word of it.

List of the manufacturers / products which support their "smart apps:"

http://www.xossports.com/SmartTV.aspx

Still doesn't clearly state if it's re-run on demand or live events.  Hopefully it does work better than All Access.

I do like the thought of not having to hookup my laptop to the TV to watch if it plays via the internet based TV and DVD applications which are common on newer devices.

I'm not holding by breath that the smart phone app will actually keep up with any video, at least not on the crappy Verizon network by me.

From what i took from this article, is that it's going to be primarily a place where you can watch MAC produced news bits and previews.  It's pretty unclear whether or not this will require a subscription to view videos and or games.  I'm thinking it will be a pretty under-whelming experience.

I agree with Monroe, even in the world of IT press releases that one was something to behold.

Thank god they are finally doing SOMETHING. Their fixed-width 1998 website is an abomination and ALL-MAC-CRAPCESS has provided me with many a panic attack.

Maybe someone could ask Sussman what this means since he is probably the only journalist who would care.

And who doesn't want to see the instantaneous replay of Akron losing 27-3 to Mankato State on the gridiron?

I'm willing to watch a replay of any embarrassing Akron loss, any time, any place.  And I've even been to a Mankato State game. BTW, it's now known as Minnesota State.

You have to work in a corporate environment to appreciate this sort of crapola. It is consolidated into a mock game for meeting room play called "Bull ---- Bingo." Monroe, I believe you scored BINGO!

Wow, that release is utter mumbo-jumbo. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what this is, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Media Day activities are next Monday PM/Tuesday AM in Detroit. Sincerely hope they use the guy dress as The Fonz again to host the MAC's on-set player interviews. #Tuscaderos #SticksDowney

So with MAC Media Day today, the new "Digital Network" also launched today.

First off, the stream is right on the front page.  the greatest part is it ran, with no problems!

As of right now all i see is that they made the website more sleek and user friendly to navigate.

It's really not as bad or obsolete as we all made it out to be.  I think it actually improves the MAC's website significantly.  It already has more features and navigates better than the Big Ten's conference website in my opinion.

I'm excited to see what they do from here.  It's definitely a step in the right, professional direction the conference needs to take on their digital media front.

Maybe it's my browser or firewall, but I see a "stream not found" message on the home page.

Me too, Ted.  Maybe someone other than the intern who wrote it actually read it and they took it down?

It worked for me.  I had that error displayed once when I returned to the home page off another internal page on the website.  I just refreshed the page and then it worked right away.

Any word on if we will be able to stream the games live?

Yes, all home football games not otherwise available on TV will be available via a stream.  What I'm unsure of is what the streams will cost, if anything.

I'd imagine it'll be something like the MAC-Pass (or whatever they called it) where you can stream the game for like 15 bucks or something like that.  I seriously hope that they improve that stream quality, because the one time I used it I got no audio, a horrible game clock, and what seemed like 1999 video quality.

Unfortunately, I think this will be "last verse same as first". I'd be shocked if there's any major improvement. To begin with, I don't think there should be any charge for the stream. The exposure generated from having wider viewership is worth forgoing a few extra bucks. ESPN3 is free, this should be too.

Your ISP pays for ESPN3, whether you know it or not, but I agree with the rest of your premise.

XOS is not new to this space -- I actually do expect the quality of the product, as far as stream quality, to improve.  Now, if it looks like an ancient TV broadcast with a camera shot of a clock superimposed, that is more than likely a school issue.  Hopefully, this deal will at minimum mean less buffering and complete failure.  Hopefully.
