Need some travel advice to Rutgers.  Planning to fly in on Friday morn.  Anyone have suggestions on where to stay and things to do? Any helpful advice will be greatly appreciated.

I'll be heading out to Jersey for the game as well. I was on the Rutgers forums (http://rutgers.rivals.com/forum.asp) a week or so ago looking for information and someone posted a link to this blog with all kinds of information for visiting fans. It's done by a Syracuse fan, but it applies to anyone visiting:

Considering the trip too, with some family in eastern PA. It would be nice to have a large Bobcat contingent on hand, especially if we have the hot start that we all expect! Last time we played Rutgers, we were right there with them...and that was during a year when Rutgers was very, very good.

It seems like the East Coast alumni chapters are doing a great job to get Bobcats to the game. DC and New England have bus trips and there's the combined Bobcat Bash with DC, NY/NJ and Philly chapters. Hopefully we can bring a good crowd from Ohio as well.

I'll be arriving Friday morning as well. Plan on spending the day in NYC before taking a train down and staying with my family in central Jersey. My uncle is a Rutgers alum so he'll be coming up for the game with us.

I've got to hit the grease trucks while I'm on campus. That seems to be the iconic food of Rutgers.

Yankees host the Red Sox and the Mets host the Phillies that weekend, plus Giants at Eagles on Sunday, so it'll be an exciting sports weekend in the NYC/NJ/Philly area.

I'm going too.  We are taking the boys to NYC for the first time for a mini vacation Thursday and Friday that week, then to Rutgers for the game Saturday.  It should be a really special road trip for us.

My wife and I, and hopefully a few friends, will be driving down the Turnpike to celebrate my birthday at  the game.
I've been looking foward to a rematch with R.U. since the last game.

Only downer,no 110.

FYI: There's an article in the papers out here today that R.U. was picked last in the Big East.
Listening to my friends who are big R.U. supporters, they don't expect this to be a banner year for their team.

Go Bobocats  !

My wife and I may be going too.  We had a trip to Europe planned, but due to several factors including finances, we had to postpone it until the Spring.  I'm trying to interest my daughter who lives in NYC and her family to take the train to Piscataway and join us.   Does anybody know about train connections from NYC?  Also, we haven't exactly figured out how we'll get there -- I suppose fly into Newark.  Any other thoughts?

I plan on coming! I will also hopefully be bringing my girlfriend who is a North Jersey native but chose to attend Rowan University and go to grad school at Penn. She has now accepted the title of "honorary bobcat" and is excited to root for OHIO!

OCF you can go to njtransit.com to check out train service.

No connections, direct train out, brings you several blocks from the Stadium. Little over an hour ride, from what I remember.

I went to the game the last time they played Rutgers, and it was a lot of fun.  I thought Rutgers Stadium was a great environment and nice setting for football.  One note for those wanting to tailgate - being visitors we had to park pretty far from the stadium.  We were still on campus (next to the basketball arena), but had to take a shuttle bus to the stadium.  It's was a pretty efficient system, and the lot we were in was still a lot of fun.

I just read through the guide posted above and they mention the same thing: "Parking is not easy at Rutgers, especially since they are now drawing great crowds. Officially, all parking on the Busch Campus (stadium is located at the south end of Busch Campus) is prepaid except the RAC lot (Rutgers Basketball Arena about 1 mile from the stadium) with one notable exception (see insider parking tips). The RAC lot costs $20. Buses run almost constantly from the RAC to the stadium. A plus is the ability to use the bathrooms inside the RAC. This is probably the easiest place to meet if you have several cars meeting up to tailgate."
