Is there any chance GamePlan picks this up, or would that already have been determined?

Seven days out, it looks like Ohio may catch a break with the weather. As of now looks like it will be cooling down to a high of 90 next Saturday. It's 98 degrees there today.

Still, this recent  temperate weather we've had in Ohio is doing no favors to the Bobcats.

The high temperatue in Las Cruces on game day should be in the mid-90s with humidity around 20%.  Kick off is at 6 pm and the temperature will be around 88.  The low humidity means it cools down at night, but early September is still quite warm.  I'm sure your coaches and trainers are very aware of what they are going to and will take steps to address this.

Another thing to remember is that Las Cruces sits at 4200 feet above sea level compared to 765 feet for Athens.  While Las Cruces is not at the 7,000 level like Santa Fe (capitol), the higher altitude can take its toll on those who are not acclimated.

Those are factors, but it will still come down to experience and execution, and because of the stability at coach at Ohio, the Bobcats will have the edge.  However, as I said in another thread, I think New Mexico State is very hungry and is very capable of winning this game.

Here's to an well played, respectful, injury-free game.

Intersectional games like this are hard to size up due to team speed. I am not sure of NMSU's overall speed. Ohio's team speed has continualy improved during the Solich era. However, in the past we have had trouble with teams blessed with outstanding speed.
I think if the team speed is about equal then  we definitely will come away with a win. If not then some of our offensive weapons are neutralized. We then will need a consistent mistake free offense where we control the ball.
I am excited to get this season started!

For the record, Frank says that this is by far the fastest team he's had at Ohio.  I think the no-huddle offense was put in place to take advantage of this fact.  I think too many posters on this board are spooked by the Troy game because they seemed so much faster than us in that game.  I believe that was more perception than reality.

I think we have gone to the "no-huddle" because it is hard to for the opponent to make defensive substitutions. As you probably know, our staff visited Troy in the off season to study the "no-huddle" offense. It exploits mis matches when a defense can't get the desired personel on the field prior to the snap.
My point is that although we have lots of explosive offensive weapons this year, they can be neutralized if an opponent has superior team speed. It doesn't mean we won't win but it puts pressure on our offense.
I thought that we had speed match-up issues last year with OSU (duh), Marshall and to some extent Louisiana. We played well enough to beat Marshall , and we did beat Louisiana. For the record I don't think any MAC East team has a speed advantage against us.

I had this game circled for months as it is within a hard days drive but the darn phone rang and I answered, instyant change of plans...... oh well.....I visited the NMSU message board. It is fairly quiet on the upcoming game but their fans seem cool and informed. I sure wish I were headed to Cruces!

I won't jinx the team with a prediction but will say Coach will have these guys conditioned and ready to play a full game.

For those lucky enough to attend you have to have a Green Chili Double Cheese Burger. Just ask any local where the best places are. You gotta do this!

Hanging in there!

Remember gang, if you have an Xbox360 you can also watch ESPN3 games on your console. Very excited for this weekend. Three great games on all at the same time (OHIO vs NMS, LSU vs UO, UGA vs. BS).

Just a quick clarification...

Aggie Access, the NMSU Sports web site that broadcasts the games via video streaming, is $9.95/month.  It uses the same video feed that ESPN uses to broadcast the game by Aggie Vision.

Aggie Vision is the is a video production group at New Mexico State University run by students that does an OUTSTANDING job.  So good in fact that many of the Aggie Vision students have been hired away by ESPN.  Not many colleges in America can boast about that one!

A small crowd of about 12,000-15,000 is expected at Aggie Memorial Stadium
(capacity: 30,343).

I'm expecting a well-played game on Saturday with the winner eeking out a victory.  It's all going to come down to one crucial part of the game: INTENSITY.  If NMSU comes out flat or with little to no intensity, the Bobcats win pulling away in the second half.  But if NMSU comes out fired-up and is able to maintain that intensity throughout the game, NMSU wins.

Why?

Because NMSU suffers from lack of confidence, or in this case, to borrow a Charlie Sheen phrase, "winning".  Decades of losing is tough to overcome, even with a new coaching staff and players.  The fans in Las Cruces have pretty much given up on the Aggies.  But I feel the day when and "if" they start winning, they'll show up in droves.  They're so sick of losing that should they start winning, this program will rise and never look back.

Talent-wise, they're competitive.  Their coaching staff is maturing, but is still one or two years out in my opinion from being at the top of their game.

Keep in mind, Vegas has this game as an Ohio 12-point favorite when it opened.  It's now at 7.5 and was as low as 7.0 at one point.  The money came in on NMSU...

Come by www.crimsonillustrated.com later this week for a full write-up of the game.

Wondering this myself. Can I purchase just one game or do I have to purchase the entire season?

Joe Brackman, late of OU, is the head of that broadcast team.  No surprise that it is a quality production with Joe running the ship.

Apparently you can buy full season, mid-season (last half of the season) or weekly plans:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/gameplan/index

I think the weekly package gets you all the games for that week.

An added injury: TE Derek Robach is out, at least for a few weeks, according to Solich on the MAC media teleconference.

Want Roback available, for sure.  But now we have depth.  His absence will not leave a hole.

Frank is quoted in the PD tonight (online) as saying that Phil Bates has not practiced in a week and a half.  Anybody know if this is true and, if so, why?  Or did Elton get it wrong, as usual?

Elton is right, Frank said the same thing on the coaches show tonight. Didn't say what the injury was.
