Two years ago, I thought there was no way Tyler would pan out as a D1 quarterback. Now, I am extremely confident in the young man. He's not perfect, there were a couple of throws he made that should have been picks, but these seemed entirely like exceptions to the norm.

I was quite impressed myself. there was one "oh sH**" pass that a Herd defender luckily dropped, but TT made great decisions, ran hard and was pretty much on the money. Love the rollouts - he is proving very dangerous in open space, good escapability, drawing defenders then finding the open man. last week it felt like if GW didn't give the ball deep in our territory, we might have never scored... last night, even though aided by several turnovers, felt like the only hindrance to our offense was the endzone. Otherwise we could have kept going.

And when Boykin starting pounding people in the second half, I knew there was going to be no miracle.

I think the hurry-up has elevated everyone's play on offense. There was an article about the hurry-up on Grantland the other day I meant to link to, which talks about D3 option-based teams that are putting up just ridiculous offensive numbers running the same 4 plays all game, because the hurry-up just wears down the defense mentally and physically.

Great move in the offseason to get it installed. Now, let's take it to Rutgers.

I'm impressed so far, but I don't assess a quarterback when things are going well. I judge them when everything is going wrong by how they respond.

I have a feeling that is Solich's standard, as well.

Tettleton will get his chance to prove himself in adverse conditions this season and in two more seasons.

It does feel good to talk about a quarterback who isn't going to graduate after this season...

If you gave T3 or Boo this offensive line, they would look even better today. Before the season I said that what Ohio needed at QB was someone who could make good decisions, and not make mistakes, and that they wouldn't need someone who could carry the team on his back by constantly making something out of nothing. Tettleton is doing a great job, and the entire offense is working as team. They will keep getting better as the year progresses, and they will put a lot of points on the board this year..

I had confidence in Theo.

I have more confidence in Tettleton than I expected so far. So much that it's guarded...

I didn't really have much confidence in Boo.

I also didn't have confidence in Everson.

The latter two did some nice things, but I always felt gloom and misfortune loomed around the corner when they had the ball.

As someone mentioned, I would have liked to have seen a healthy Theo with this line.

One more thing: I love that we're not shuffling QBs every other play/series. I hated the two-headed monster. Let the QB play and establish some rhythm.

I don't endorse the furry lifestyle, but when the Bobkitten is involved things can change mighty quickly...

LC makes a great point. Much of Tettleton's success can be handed to the offensive line. He's not forced out of the pocket, or throwing off his back. The RBs look better because there are holes to run through. That offensive line makes the whole offense look better. They deserve some high praise.

I really like this team.  #4 appears to be an ideal leader for this particular group.  I think we all need to sit back and enjoy this ride one game at a time.  Obviously they are off to a great start; its going to be fun to see what they ultimately can become.

I was really worried about the QB position before the season started, and was pretty vocal about it.

I am so happy that I was (not for the first time) completely wrong.

Tyler looks like the 3 year starter that we've all been wishing for. Great decision making, excellent poise, solid accuracy throwing the ball and the ability to make plays with his legs.

Tettleton and Boykin through 2013?!?!? Holy crap.

I'm sold. His poise is out of this world. Decision making is on the money. Arm gets the job done. Seems to be mature beyond his years.

Count me in the camp of people who never saw this coming. Just super impressed right now.

I got a good chuckle from some comments by Marshall fans about how this Bobcat team is so junior and senior laden, and Marshall is so freshman and sophomore heavy, that this game was a total fluke, and in the coming years Marshall will return to its rightful place dominating Ohio. Yeah, we've got some holes to fill on defense next year, but on offense? HOLY SCHNIKES.

I'll confess, in the offseason I thought it should be Snyder's team; he was more of a true QB, which is what this team needed; and Tettleton was more of an athlete, which we've tried plenty of times over the past several years without a whole lot of super impressive results. I was wrong, and I am extremely happy to admit it.

Dunno how seriously Bates or Vick challenged Tettleton at QB, but other than that, Snyder shot his own chances to start this season in the foot not too long before August camp:

docket.webxsol.com/athens/Last.jsp?Case_id=2011CRB01772&selection=D&type=T

I think OU's newer underage alcohol policy in the student code of conduct makes it such that Snyder could be automatically suspended or expelled with another violation or two. I doubt Solich wants to increase the chances of another year of drama and possible loss of QB availability such as what happened with Boo last year. Excellent choice, but kind of a no-brainer if you ask me.

Of course, none of this should be construed as me saying that Tettleton hasn't done great with his opportunity so far.

This, exactly, is my feeling on the matter.  I saw raw athletic potential a couple years ago, but poor decision making and a bit of needing to adjust to DI speed of the game.  I've been wowwed tremendously by Tettleton this year so far, and love having a solid, first string quarterback, no ifs, ands, or buts.

The fact that Solich announced a starter as early as he did was surprising at the time, but makes perfect sense to me now.

On the long TD run that called back because of the illegal block, Tyler got out and was the lead blocker for the last, oh, 30 yards or so of the run. Says a lot.

He de-cleated the DB on that play.  Awesome effort!  It's funny my two favorite plays of the game didn't even count.

Rich and Rob were teasing him in the post game because he didn't run over to the bell with the rest of the team. Instead he went to midfield and shook hands with the Marshall team because he "felt like that was the right thing to do".  thats a mture move for a sophomore.

I too was very skeptical of his potential but after 3 games I continue to be impressed. T3 and Boo were great creators but I always got a knot in my stomach when it was crunch time because I could just feel a turnover coming on. So far I don't get the sense that T2 will try to do too much to force a turnover.

I've said it for 3 games now, Tettleton is one of the nicest guys on the field.  LOL.  He has helped up his tackler more than a few times this year.

During the off season pretty much everybody said he just needs to not do anything stupid.  I think he got that message loud and clear...very smart player.  In his post-game comments, he mentioned how he kept changing the play to those screen passes since Marshall's defense kept giving him the easy read.  I have a feeling those will be our bread and butter this year.  Get the ball into the WR's hands and let them work in open space with a great group of down field blocking WR's in front of you....especially when you get the defense on their heals like last night!

T3, Boo, even Bates in his limited snaps, seemed to look for the home run more, fighting for extra yards, moving laterally thinking they could beat somebody to the corner to get some space before turning it up field, etc.  Often those things didn't work out (fumble at the goal line in the CMU game, extra scrambling increases the chance of a hold or illegal block, etc.)

With Tettleton, he'll take the 5-6 yards the defensive is giving up, slide, and live another play to pick up the short 3rd down.  I think we'll see a lot more sustained drives this year.

Agreed.  As I was telling my friend while driving home, both Theo and Boo were more spectacular -- which meant they could do things that were both spectacularly good and spectacularly bad -- but Tyler seems more steady and probably won't do much at either extreme.   I like that in a QB.   Some things you can't measure with stats about how to play the game and how to handle yourself get handed down when you have a father who played professional sports.  Seems like he was paying attention.

Actually, if we don't lose any key players to injury, grades, the law, or homesickness, we are absolutely stacked everywhere next year.

OL: All we lose are the two starting tackles, Flading and Strum. Coach Lightner has suggested that Mcgrath, Prior, and Mcqueen should be able to step in without missing a beat.

QB: Everybody's back

RB: Lose Harden. Still return Boykin and Blankenship.

TE: Lose Clark. Still return Thompson, Hill, and Knight.

WR: Biggest holes to fill on the offense. We lose Brazill, Dunlop, and Bates. Foster and Bussey return as the veterans. Guys like Futtrell and Smith will have much bigger roles.

DL: All we lose is Meyers and King, the latter being more for leadership.

LB: Lose Keller and Benjamin. A JUCO MLB isn't a bad idea in the offseason.

DB: Everybody's back.

P: Lose Hershey

So 2012 will be a loaded, senior-laden team. There might be some worry in 2013, but the team will cross that bridge when it comes.

These were the ones I was thinking of. Especially Keller. That defense is a different beast when he is in and healthy.

Got him.

Former Cincy LaSalle FB/MLB (6'-235)  Tim Edmond who is currently at Hutchison Kansas CC gave a verbal last week.

Hutchison  had one close game this year....they won 90-7:
