I've seen very few Rutgers fans post anything on the board this week.  I find that strange.  We had more Wofford fans post last year than Rutgers fans this year.  If you RU fans are lurking around, let's hear from you.

From reading their forums, they seem to be more concerned with which conference they might go to (if they move at all).  The OHIO score thread of theirs has moved to something like the 2nd or 3rd page of their forum and most of them are predicting scores like "RU 41 OHIO 14."  While there are some of them who are sticking to more realistic scores that are about three or four point separations, the vast majority of the fans are looking at us as if we are talentless and could care less it seems.

The opposing team sucks!

Probably more concerned with the conference shake up at the time.

I've been lurking here this week. I forgot my login and password from the last time I was on this site a few years ago. Plus, I had to do laundry after all that tanning.

I saw the New Mexico State and Marshall games, and I'm impressed with Ohio's speed and precision. You have good coaching, a good offense, and a defense that likes to take the ball away. The Bobcats have to be the early favorites to win the MAC, especially after the way Ohio treated Marshall like a chew toy last week (four turnovers in the first 20 minutes? That's what I call ball hawking).

Even the Rutgers fans who call us a "tough opponent" are calling for 10-20 point Rutgers victories...

That said, I'll make my pick here.
OHIO-31
Rutgers-13

I've seen crazier things happen.

I've also seen a few RU fans predicting OHIO to win. I went to their board and had to go to page 3 to see anything about the game. 80 threads talking about the same thing.

Here is a post by an RU fan in response to a newspaper article about the game:

cowhog September 20, 2011 at 6:19PM

While a lot of RU naysayers are mocking Ohio as a cupcake team, they are actually pretty friggin good and RU needs to have it's defense playing well to win this game.

OU stomped Marshall 44-7 - the very same Marshall team that gave West Virginia fits in Morgantown this year.

Their head coach, Frank Solich is the former head coach of Nebraska, and was 10-3 there in his final year, and has recruited well and has had several freshmen All Americans since arriving at OU.

I can easily see why Schiano is trying to keep his team's focus on Ohio, and not on the ACC. This is not like Syracuse playing Toledo, this Ohio team cannot be taken lightly.

Rutgers is only a 4-1/2 point favorite at home, which means the odds-makers consider OU a very good team.

Now this is interesting, Syracuse, at home, is only a 2-1/2 point favorite over Toledo. (In fairness, Toledo came pretty close to upsetting Ohio State).

I'm not a trash talking Bobcat fan, but I do go to other boards to see what's being said. On Rutger's board - not much. They all seem to be respectful, and they say good things about OHIO; however, they don't seem to be seriously concerned. Maybe this is one where we can surprise the sleeping giant. I really think we may be the real GIANT in this scenerio. Perhaps OHIO should not take Rutgers too lightly.

Go Bobcats!

They are NOT sleeping.  Just listen to their coach and what their players have said.  However, we MAY be a giant.  Saturday will help answer that question.

I get the feeling Rutgers fans are a lot like this group. Many are alums, they are incredibly dedicated to their team and because of past struggles they are in no position to take anyone lightly.

They'll definitely be ready.  They've had two weeks to prepare for OU plus they'll have two weeks until their next game, Syracuse.  It's the only game they'll have in a month, so I'm sure they'll be focused and primed.

Growing up in the bucolic splendor of the Garden State, I don't remember anyone really ever being a Rutgers football fan. The only colleges I recall having a a somewhat notable fan base were Penn State, Notre Dame, and whatever the flavor of the month was (usually Florida State or the U).  We watched the national games and enjoyed them, but we weren't indoctrinated into college football like the other regions I've resided (Midwest, Southeast).

I think Rutgers fans are like us - a small, devoted following of mostly alums that resides in area where the rest of the citizens don't care about their team. In Ohio, it's us against Ohio State. In NJ, it's Rutgers fans against...  pro sports, maybe?

Who has time for college football when there's the Mets/Yanks/Phillies, Giants/Jets/Eagles, Devils/Rangers/Islanders/Flyers and the Knicks/Nets/76ers to hold interest during different parts of the season? For crissakes, our high school cafeteria used to burst with unison chants of "1940" at the kids in the Rangers jerseys.

Granted, I only speak of my experiences growing up many, many roads from the nearest exit off the Turnpike. Maybe those with exits closer to home have different experiences.

I don't speak for all of NJ, just like those STD-ridden, juiced up, bimboed out, pieces of NY filth on a pathetic, sad shell of a network don't speak for NJ... Muff cabbage...

One note: At the time, the Rutgers head coach's son was in my class, and I didn't know it (or realize it) until years later. I guess I was oblivious, but if Rutgers was a big deal, I would have known. If it was Joe Paterno or Low Holtz's kid, I'd known...

They sell shirts with this on them at the shore... I want to get one so bad but haven't gotten around to it. I HATE not being able to pump my own gas when I'm in NJ. It just feels unnatural to let someone else do it for me.

Ok now back to the topic at hand.

The first time I ever pumped gas was on my way to Ohio for Spring Quarter freshman year. I was pretty flustered...

My friend in Jersey is a Giants fan. They are aware of Rutgers, but don't follow them.
