Well, hello there ladies.

I got banned last week apparently, so I was unable to come back here as promptly as I had hoped too.

Anyway, i had to enter a new screen name, which I am sure will soon be banned as well once they realize who I am.

Anyway, this is screen name Aaron Perkins, from Marshall.

Just wanted to pop back in and say WOW. What a beat down.

That officially sucked, everything about it sucked except the pregame tailgating.

You guys have a very nice team, a lot faster than I expected, and at least for two quarters a WHOLE lot better coached than we were.

I am here to eat a big ole plate of crow.

You guys own the Bell.

The one, and ONLY thing I loved about the game was the fact you guys went for a fake Punt, and then ran for the bell afterwards and shoved it down our throats.

I loved it.

This is a rivalry that should be played every year for the rest of our lives.

Anyway, great game, enjoy your season, and GO HERD!!!!

Thanks for coming back on. I was wondering why you loved the fake punt. Does that mean something special to you? If you think we wanted to run up the score, do you really think we would just run the ball the second half. We have more class than that. And by the way it was 4th and 12. I would love to see other teams try that every time. Sour grapes to me-you just have to come up with something to put us down and that's it?

I love that the game meant a lot to you guys.

Hopefully our people will wake up next year.

I liked that you faked the punt.

You can throw out "classy" all you want, whatever.

You were running the ball all over us, why would you have stopped in the second half.

There was no letting off the pedal in that game until very late, not knocking you all at all, i loved it.

I dont think that shows a lack of class, i think it shows that you want to beat someone down.

LA Tech didnt take that approach and Houston came back and beat them at the same time you all were pushing harder on our throats with your band boots.

Just so you understand the fake punt, it was not a called fake. The punter has been trained that if the other team doesn't put anyone between him and the first down marker, he should go ahead and take the first down. My guess is that he will take off on his own initiative for a first down 4-5 more times before the year is over.

And the punt was in no way an effort to run anything up... it just gives our O more snaps to run the ball and eat clock and keep our D off the field even longer. LC is correct. If we do the rugby style kick, Hershey has the option to read it and go if the opening is there.

Either way, I agree with Mr. Perkins - this should spice up the rivalry a little.

Perhaps I don't have my CynicRadar operating, but I am not reading "snide" between the lines. I don't think anything was insinuated when "Aaron Perkins" said he liked the fake punt -- particularly in the context of noting he liked the race to the bell. I think it was a good post. There was a lot of humble pie consumed in those graphs. And there were gracious compliments that I suspect were difficult for his fingers to tap out.

I didn't get to watch the game until last night and I gotta say, I was surprised at how well Marshall ran the ball in the first half. Two things I cont figure- why didn't they stick with the run, and why in the world would they not get on the corners and cover that bubble screen?

In spite of the turnovers it was still pretty much a game at 17-7, then all of a sudden, to quote Ron Burgandy after the news team rumble- "Wow, that got out of hand FAST."

These types of rivalry games are a lot of fun, so in that regards OU really needed to win this one to keep the juices flowing for next time. Should be a great one in the Joan next year, best of luck until then.

Because their OC has a great grasp on Xs and Os but doesn't understand game dynamics (according to a co-worker).

My analysis: Marshall is thin in the secondary, and they make it a point to play their corners off the ball because their DC is terrified of getting beat deep. Nickel and dime weren't options, because we'd just pound the ball for 4-5 yards a pop, and if you're down 2 scores and giving up 4-5 yards a pop, it ain't good. Oh, and they totally didn't think we would be as athletic as we are, because they forgot that those 3 star recruit ratings are more of a function of the conference you're recruited into that the level of skill you have.

Their corners were relying on beating the WR blocks, and using the sidelines as an extra defender. Neither worked. The WR blocking was awesome, and Bates and Brazill did a fantastic job of tightroping the sideline.

During the game a Marshall fan sat in the row behind me. After the game, we spoke at some length. He was most gracious. We discussed his team's strengths and weaknesses and the Herd's upcoming schedule. I tend to think he was quite representative of Marshall fans - more so than the handful who took pleasure in riling up BobcatAttackers with pre-game smack. Although, I confess that I found their smack entertaining.

Agreed, Mike. I know many, many Marshall fans and have multiple friends in Huntington. They are gracious to fault, good all round people and honorable fans. They are the type who wish visiting fans good luck in future games after a game -- regardless of whether it's a win or a loss for the Herd.

        I got a good gravy recipe to go with your crow. but anyway, during the game my section started our own 'We Are' Cheer.   One side would say "WE ARE and the other side would say "KICKIN YOUR ASS"   I enjoyed this game so much. The better team won, hands down.

And that reminds me of a chant that was heard this past Friday at a h.s. football game in Cincinnati (hope I have the story right). The Colerain study body yelled "We've got girls" to St. Xavier, an all-boys Catholic school. St. X fans replied "We've got Jesus."

Unless St. X is a vastly different environment than my Catholic HS and the others we competed against, I doubt the sincerity of the St. X chant. Creating humor and sarcasm out of the obvious biases (dare one say prejudice) of opponents was always a favorite pastime. You don't think of "Touchdown Jesus" as a religious icon, do you?

I don't want to offend anyone and I may be wrong but, just sayin'

I guess it depends on their attitude when they responded with that chant. My first reaction was that it was just a fun way to do a little witnessing on the football field. It kind of reminded me of the time we sang Christian hymns in the DC subways when Promise Keepers had its big DC rally a number of years ago. We weren't being pompous, we were just expressing our joy and trying to be good witnesses for Christ.
