It was clear to me that Solich made the right call at the end of this game.
Players mistakes cost us this game.
Solich's decision for a field goal with 5 minutes remaining was the right call.
The 2 personal foul penalties; Corey Hasting & Joe Flading cost us this game.
Solich gave our players another opportunity  for redemption with the field goal and with the "D" stopping Buffalo on their next possession victory was insight. Buffalo's "O" must have been some what nervous on their last possession, as they went 3 and out after having no problem previously moving down the field.
The time was ours with our experienced "O" line to give Tyler time to make some plays. All we needed was to gain about 30-35 yards, get to the 30-35 yard line and then Matt could do his thing. The "O" line didn't do their job.
We now are facing a real cross roads on this season. Fortunately, as we are told, we have a weak conference schedule so we should be able to right the ship? Injuries are part of the game and we need to overcome these handicaps.
We do have a very good offense. I believe we will need to push the "O" and special teams for more production. The "D" will need to employ a mind set to " just not make mistakes that cause penalties. If this can happen than we might be able to right the ship over these next few weeks with the hope that some of the injured players can get back on the field.
I'm staying positive that the team can over come these obstacles. I have faith in the coaching staff to make the right decisions. It will be up to the players to execute the plan.
It will also be interesting to watch Tyler, to see if he has the leadership abilities to motivate this group and over come the Buffalo loss. From what I have read he seems to have that  leadership potential. Now we will see if he can implement?

I don't think we're supposed to point out mistakes or be critical of individual players by name. You might want to edit your post and change the player name mentions with global terms, like "the defense" did this or "the team" did that.

I don't endorse the furry lifestyle, but when the Bobkitten is involved things can change mighty quickly...

I didn't watch this game so I can't say who cost it.

I can say that currently these are our best offensive and defensive lineman.

If you can name 2 better then so be it.

Glad to hear you say this First Street.  Our individual players do not need to be criticized by name.  They're playing their guts out and the best of them will make mistakes.  I firmly believe that we have great players and a great coaching staff who will take care of mistakes and correct them on the practice field and in meetings.  I hate to see penalties that cost us and hope they're corrected and believe they will be.  As a BOBCAT fan, I'll applaud and praise our players.  Yes, a loss does hurt - it's been 26+ hours and I can't get it out of my mind.  I hope to begin eating again - sometime Monday.  GO BOBCATS - waiting for Saturday !

Hey, Doc, Zaleski and I are partial to Second Street.  We actually spent part of our formative youthful years in the same house on that storied street -- about a decade apart.

If you're not "supposed" to mention player mistakes by name then why do the refs? This was a rule change some years ago. Those who disagree with my naming the players at fault should then appeal to the NCAA about the rule naming players who commit these infractions.

I think FSF and I did that as well....61 First Street...he told me it was a former funeral home....we scared the spirits away...haha....all of the guys who lived there in 69 were from Scioto County....Portsmouth...West Portsmouth...Wheelersburg...and a couple from the far flung reaches of the galaxy out G-mans way in Rarden and Otway....yours truly from Clay township and Twin Valley where the  3 R's ruled-Rosemount-Rubyville and Route 23.....we also had some friends from a Cleveland social club called the Metro AC's....not really a gang but we scuffled with a few of them...girlfriend stuff but friendly fights with no knives or guns just fists and chairs and 2 by 4's.....I called our bunch The Hillbilly Hammers cause we were always trying to fix damage so that we could get our security deposit back.... we were kinda "asked to leave" and when we asked for our $500 security deposit back the landlord just laughed and said "You're joking...right?"....missed the riots in 70 as I was student teaching.....most of the first street guys ended up at Carriage Hill....I came back for the summer of 70 at Lakeview Apartments......fun and fond memories.

Beats me. All I know from an earlier incident is that the prevailing winds on this board are blowing in the direction that one cannot make any negative comments about an individual player by name. I was just trying to help you out before you get attacked by angry supporters or helicopter parents.

There is a not too subtle difference between being ID'ed by the ref for a penalty during a game and naming that penalty and player as the reason a game was lost.  I'm going with discretion and respect for the players on this one.

Maybe I'm feeling sympathetic today because I watched the ESPN 30 for 30 Steve Bartman movie for the 2nd time last night.  Riveting and disgusting at the same time like a train wreck.  Let's keep well meaning individuals out of the line of fire, please.

I must agree about the defense (they are really battered up) and a couple of key calls at key moments of the game.......like why run up the middle on 1st down and it does not work and then run pretty much the same play on 2nd down when you are trying to score the go ahead touchdown and then have to settle for a field goal and hope to get the ball back. Agree with the field goal decision, just not the first two calls from around the 5 yd. line.

Oh, by the way, they need a true Fullback for situations like this!
