I picked 12-2.  It may be a bit high of an expectation, but I figure loose against Penn State and Toledo (We play them away this year... right?) Win MACC finally, and a win at the GoDaddy.com bowl.

But this is really early, so I'm sure i'm going to be totally wrong.

We do not play Toledo this year; our crossover games are vs. BG and @ Ball State.

The Bobcats lose a close one at Penn State, and go flat in one conference match.

The new class is likely to have little impact this year as most will be redshirted.  But this class does bode well for future years.

I have 12-2. Penn State will be an enormous game under the national spotlight and the Nittany Lions will come to play. I expect Ohio to play well in Happy Valley too but its difficult to see an upset here based on what we've traditionally done against BCS competition. Ball State on the road early in the season with a banged up team could be that one flat game we're talking about. The MAC Championship game shouldn't be a problem with our experience and a GMAC bowl win should be readily obtainable. 2013 looks like an open road to an undefeated season with Tettleton a senior and a game at Louisville our only BCS challenger.

The home games, Norfolk State, NMSU, Buffalo, UMass, BG, and Akron should all be wins. The road games will be more challenging - Penn State, Marshall, Miami, Kent, Temple, and Ball State. The years when you usually end up with the best schedules are the ones where your hardest games are at home, and that will most certainly not be the case next year. I call it 3-3 on the road for 9-3 next year. I think the team will be slightly better than this year, but the schedule significantly harder. Among the choices you offered, I'll have to take 10-4.

The Cats drop games to Penn State, Marshall and Kent State on the road but win the MAC Championship game and the bowl that is 11-3 on the season. To go 10-4 that is going to require 6-2 in MAC regular season play and losses to Penn State and Marshall but winning the MAC Championship and bowl. You can see why I didn't put 9-5 on here as a record as that would require losing the bowl or the MAC Championship neither of which I think is going to happen. Ohio could simply not win the East but I don't see it with an even easier schedule than last year plus a ton of motivation going into 2012 having come up short on the MAC Championship in 2011.

I really hope that we come to play against Ball State this year.  We owe them one after our lackluster performance and subsequent loss last year.  

I think I would rather lose a tough, close ball game to the Lions to start the year that led to an otherwise outstanding season than to steal one in Happy Valley and have the team hang their hats on it and become overconfident.  However we would receive much more press by starting the O'Brien era off by handing PSU a loss than if we ran the table in the MAC.

Bobcats will have some big shoes to fill. Brazil, Harden, Keller and Flading and others are huge shoes to fill. Those guys aren't gonna be replaced in one recruiting class. I would be really impressed if we can win atleast 8 games considering the losses to graduation. Tettleton will be better but won't have as much established weapons to work with.  The offensive line is a huge? Can they buy Tettleton enough time for him to make a play like they did this year.

WR - A big chunk of the receiving corp is gone - Brazil, Dunlop, and Gross. I don't think the subs are at the same level, so I share your concern there.
RB - I have mixed emotions here. Harden was good, and had a good year, but Boykin and Blankenship both have another year to develop, plus Dallas Brown will play. I think RB will be OK.
OL - The OL will indeed be huge, but not so much a huge ?. Prior appears to be a solid replacement for Strum, and McGrath should do well replacing Flading, and the other three positions all return starters.
LB - The losses of Benjamin and Keller are big, no doubt. Reallly, though, OLB looks solid with players like Woseley, Lewis, Grady, Moore, and Jones returning, plus Jovan Johnson coming off a redshirt. At MLB I don't have a clue who will replace Keller, though. Stefanski? Morales? Russel? Tim Edmond? I think at least one of them will step up, though, and play OK, so I'm not too concerned.

Gross and Futrell are similar type athletic quick  receivers.....Brazil will be hard to replace as a big game big time receiver.....to replace LaVon someone needs to step up....Bussey could but he hasn't had that break out game.....Murray looks like Brazil but he's a freshman.....Donte Foster should be able to replace Dunlop or maybe even Dovell could do it.

The rest of the receiving corps remains a potential laden group and one or more could step up.....Landon Smith as a possession receiver......Cochran can outrun everyone....Roberts as a WR at 250 will block and will be hard to tackle.....Waters should be a possession receiver......Ngoumou looks like a player......maybe.

The X factor in all of this could be true freshman Sebastian Smith.  Some of the coaches have mentioned him as the #1 recruit and he's listed as an athlete who can play offense and defense.

He certainly has the speed and size to play WR and has had in high school big catches in championship games.

I guess I'm not as worried about the WR corps as others.

Talent wise we seem to be getting deeper and deeper on the depth charts and that's a good thang.

There are a lot of guys on the roster with talent, including more than one of the recruits. There is an outstanding WR coach. I have no doubt that the Bobcats will get excellent play from the WR position next year - I just don't know who the top receivers will be. To use an overused expression, the Bobcats will reload, not rebuild.

The look might change as coaches adapt to their player's strengths.  Ohio should have the best guards and center in the league with representative tackles.  With the blocking that the TEs and receivers will be capable of Ohio could lead the league again in first downs, but, buy showing totally different tendancies.  I don't expext Brazil to be replaced. I expect fewer close games and more physical play from a roster recruited for toughness.   TT should have some very high QB ratings.
