here is proof of one side of the equation...

“All the players I met over the weekend all had a lot of good stuff to say about the program and Coach Solich,” Gibbons said.

One of the reason Gibbons said he chose Ohio was because he wanted to play for a winning program.

Another poignant piece from the same article...

"He said the exposure on ESPN gave him a good idea of how the Bobcats play."

Great quotes that really bring home two points. First, having winning seasons brings the kinds of athletes it takes to move the program forward. Second, the publicity from mid-week games does help.

Another thing recruits like is stability in a program. Ohio has had very little turnover, even at the assistant coach level, but I was shocked by a recent article that really brought home just how bad the coaching turnover is, nationwide. Only 14 head coaches in the country have been at a program longer than Solich has been with Ohio.

The key to the coaching stability is Frank at the top and veteran coaches mostly behind him. Williams adds another 50 year old coach to the roster. Jimmy Burrow is close to 60. Albin and Gdowski are sticking around waiting for Solich to retire.
