Anyone else get an email to take this survey today?  Any idea what the plans are for seating in Peden?

I got that as well Alan.  The first thing that popped in my head was gauging the interest of offering chairbacks to season ticket holders for an additional fee.  I know there are several larger schools that offer the availability to purchase one for the whole season.  Here's the best pic I could find at Ohio Stadium.  You can see the red backs attached to the bleachers.

I heard that they would like to put permament chairbacks from 30 yd line to opposite 30 all the way to Tower Seats.  The price of each of those seats would go up significantly.  Also heard that if they do this, inturn, theTower Seats would  go up per seat with an increase in the annual seat license fee.

I am not sure how acceptable this would be to most  current season ticket patrons.  Thus a survey was sent out via em.

I found the answer choices to this question most interesting.  Zero wasn't an option.

How much more would you be willing to spend for permanent seatbacks to be included in the purchase of each of your season tickets? (Select One)

Noticed that too. Leaving that one blank is an option though.

I'm thinking any seating adjustment like chair backs would likely result in bigger space to sit, and then fewer seats, no?

Yes, and the Phillips Section where I sit already has "setbacks" and I'm on the 50 yard line, so this question and the one about how much I desire a seat closer to the 50 were not relevant in my case.  I told them that they should have used "filter questions" and that their survey questionnaire wasn't well designed -- obviously not pre-tested.   Yes, Alan, I signed my name -- it's only on this stupid board that I want semi-autonomy to prevent too much GBA!

I'm confused . . . why are you posting a picture of Michigan State's stadium.  You know I have such a hard time keeping all of those "State" schools straight.  They all reek of cow manure and one Big Farm looks -- and smells -- just like all  the others.

I signed mine too, OCF.  I too sit right on the 50 (aisle seats in section 104).  My guess is that I won't be sitting there next year even though I've had those seats for 10+ years.  Reseating an arena/stadium at our level when the stadium has lots of empty seats has proven to be detrimental to attendance at other schools.  Just ask the folks at SIU.

I completed mine and provided my name as well.

My comments included the fact that we need to get people standing more and sitting less.  Making the seats more comfortable seems counter-intuitive to that end.  I also opined that I thought it was unfortunate that the cheerleaders cannot get in front of stands; that I liked the 110 in the student section; would like the home team back on the tower side (I can wish); and that during post game, the public address announcer needs to be quiet while the team and the 110  sing our alma mater.

In that case, why not eliminate seats entirely?? Take an approach like that of the Agora in Cleveland.

I like the fact that they're reaching out for input.  I'm guessing they have gotten complaints from some (older) season ticket holders regarding the lack of comfort with bench-type seating.

Have to disagree SBH.  What some might claim was a "comfort and customer survey" is quite possibly a thinly veiled survey to justify reseating the stadium and raising more revenue.

I didn't know they had a public wi-fi hot spot on the Grassy Knoll, Alan!

The Subway at 509 Elm Street in Dallas does though.

I mentioned the lack of an ATM as well. I'm sure it will be a while before the concessions take plastic, but the lack of an ATM at any sporting venue is pretty bushleague.

I don't see why.  Not that expensive, and the Burrito Buggy can make it work wirelessly.  No excuse.  Do they take plastic in the Convo?  I seem to remember they did, but I've been in a lot of venues this Winter.

I responded with name saying that if they are seeking revenue generation ideas, the 1a item should be allowing alcohol sales to select sections of the stadium, if not all of it.  The administration would never go for it, but it would put butts in seats earlier, keep them in the seats longer, and would probably be the number one justification for some form of seat licensing sections in the stadium.

DA, I am embarrassed that I did not think of that as the number one thing they could do to increase revenue.  I said improvement to concessions, restrooms and operations of the video board are the first things I would do.  I Stand Up and Cheer and could care less about chairbacks.  I have a large block of seats beetween the 40-50 in Sec 105 and would keep them even if it cost a little bit more.  I did not know there wasn't an ATM in Peden.  That should be addressed with Citizens Bank immediately.

DA, you may get your wish sooner than you could have ever imagined.  My bet is that you'll see beer in Peden before the Nelsonville bypass is completed.

I only wish I were back for more games!  And I will be shocked to see it, but outside of an across the board ticket price increase, which I don't think anyone wants to see, that should provide a cash infusion. (and might eliminate some pregame binge drinking)

Yes on the alcohol sales. IIRC, the way BUGS does it is sales only in specially designated areas, one beverage per transaction, and no sales past the 3rd quarter, which is a perfectly reasonable way of managing it.

Convo concessions take plastic, and there is at least one ATM on the concourse.

NASCAR  introduced premium seating with seatbacks over 20 years ago!

I like SBH's idea of open seating like the Agora.  Most of the small weekend NASCAR tracks have that where I have attended races.
