We are ranked ahead of all 12 teams on the schedule in several 1-124 rankings.  Let's dream here.  Let's say we win them all.  Let's say we are in the top 16 (which would be probable but no guarantee) and ranked ahead of an AQ (which is also no guarantee) and the highest ranked non-AQ conference champ (again...no guarantee).  Its very unlikely but far from impossible that we get to go to the BCS.  Admittedly, We are dreaming hear.  So, who do you want to play?

The Big East champ?  Louisville and UC are sort of local and we would have a chance to win.  How about revenge on Rutgers for stalling our MOJO last year.

Big Ten schools?  These would be tougher wins probably.  THE Ohio State University? I know a lot of Ohio fans would love that chance.  Nebraska?  How great would that be for Solich?

However, my wildest dream for this season ends with our crowd having the chance to chant "We are Ohio!" in Brady Hoke's face.

Ohio St. would be my first choice because beating them in a BCS Bowl would be enough happiness that I could die that night and be satisfied. They are not bowl eligible this year so they're out. My next choice would be Nebraska because I know Frank would love to get the chance to coach against his forever school on a major stage.

If we're just dreaming here, then really any traditional power house school like Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, just to make a point that could go either way:

A) if we win, we did it, we proved everyone that we can compete with the rest.  We then prove to the faculty and students that we are more than just another mid-major, and media outlets will maybe *gasp* talk about us once in a blue moon.

B) we get blown out of the water, and we then slap everyone back to reality that while we have a good team, we're far from great and we're just not there yet, and that the road to becoming a great team is a long and difficult one.

I'd be overjoyed just to see them in the position you've described although I can't see it happening.  This team always seems to come up with one "bad loss"  (see my prediction about the Buffalo game in a previous thread) that will keep them buried in the 31st or 32 slot in the polls.

That said, I think that I'd like to see them take on an opponent from the Big 10 (11, 12?) or whatever they call themselves these days as I think they play a style of football that the Bobcats are better equipped to deal with and it would help us with recruiting.  As I think Wisconsin will be playing for the Championship this year that leaves us with Nebraska, Michigan or Michigan State.  I agree with the sentiment that it would be ultra-cool for Frank to get his revenge against the 'Huskers for dumping him for winning "only" nine games, plus my pastor is a big Nebraska fan and it would be fun to get into it with him over the game

The other thought I have is I'd like to see the Bobcats take on Notre Dame if the Irish have a good season.  It would surely help recruiting and maybe an invitation to play in South Bend in the future would be in the offing.

Will September 1 ever get here?

My first thought was Michigan, just to show Hoke who the real Ohio is.  But then I thought it would be better to have one of two schools:  either Boise, to face the class of the non-AQs; or a really good SEC team (Bama, LSU, Georgia, SC or Arkansas -- I have a good buddy who went to Arkansas, so that would be fun in Nawlins).  We might get our clocks cleaned, but maybe not.  It would be fun nonetheless.

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

Personally, I would love to play the #2 ranked team in America in the BCS National Championship Game.

I would love to see the Bobcats take down Nebraska in a BCS bowl. I'd be willing to bet Frank would shed some tears in the post-game interview.

Michigan.  You think the whole "Ohio" thing with Michigan was big after our basketball win?  Imagine the publicity if we knocked their football team off.

Nebraska would be cool to knock off because of Frank, but I think the pride in our university would be much higher after knocking off Michigan.

I was at a birthday party yesterday afternoon in South Orange, NJ and a lady I was talking to asked me where I went to school. I replied "Ohio University" and she immediately said "Oh my son goes to Michigan, you guys are big rivals!"

I politely informed her that she was thinking of OSU, but she continued to insist that I was wrong and that my school and her son's school were indeed huge rivals. Becoming annoyed I finally said, "no Ohio is in Athens, OSU is in Columbus, OSU and Michigan are big rivals but the coaches at Michigan like to call OSU by the wrong name. They know who the Ohio University is now because we beat up on them in the NCAA tourney this year but some people still get confused."

She finally conceded that I might know a little more about the school I attended than she does.

Another one of my favorite lines when people mix up OHIO and OSU is to say "You know how there is a Penn State and a Penn, and PSU is the good football program and Penn is the academically superior school? Well it works the same way with OSU and OHIO."

I think Ohio State would be the dream. And I would love it to be the kind of game where both teams play really well..but we're just better. Last time we played them close they were without Wells, which would always have been their excuse.

I'd also love to beat Cincinnati, just so its clear where we stand with them.

Finally, Notre Dame...at their stadium.

C.  We lose a close heartbreaker but gain the respect of the nation.  We start 2013 in the Top 25, then Tyler Tettleton wins the Heisman trophy on OUr way to the National Championship.

Since we're trying to have a realistic dream here, I will agree with others who have said Nebraska.  Ohio State would be my true dream, but the Frank Solich angle does setup a very interesting game.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Wow, you have a person in New Jersey who thinks this way?  You ought to come back to Ohio where 9 out of 10 think the same way.  What is really bad is when you tell them the difference, only 5 out of 10 believe you.

They tend to be a part of the scarlet and gray horde who have never attended a class at OSU nor been to a game in person.  It's one thing to a homer for your own school, even an over the top one, but to not have a clue about other schools exposes your bandwagon card pretty badly.
