They gave up on pushing MiamiU and have accepted their fate as MiamiOH.

Apparently the domain change happened on August 1. I just now noticed it via a Hustle Belt Tweet. Looks like the university's Twitter has been using #MiamiOH instead of #MiamiU all summer.

Oh how the times have changed:

Still remember the headline years ago when I was stationed in Pensacola:

Miami (OH) to play Miami (FL), Winner to Shed Brackets

As I recall Miami (OH) won, but the bracket shedding didn't last more than a few weeks.

Upon further reflection, I believe that this headline was for a basketball game between the two Miamis in December of 1964 or early '65.  Sorry to "mix my sports."

Maybe it was an ESPN bracketbuster.

ROTFL!

As I recall Miami (FL) BB program was horrible at that time.  Not too long afterwards they actually dropped the sport for about a decade or so.  The only school that I can remember that ever dropped basketball and retained football.  Now, with the pending sanctions, maybe it'll be the other way around soon.

I believe that all 345 Division 1 institutions had a Men's Basketball team last year and I believe that it was the only sport for which that was true.

It is odd to think that Miami (FL) did not at one point.

My normal reaction to anything like this relating to Miami would be schadenfreude, but it's awfully hard not to feel empathy.

Is this in bad taste..

"Miami of OHIO, because we own U"

Another way of looking at this whole thing is the noble ambition of putting some discernible space between themselves and Convict U, once and for all.

Is it Miami of Ohio University?  If so, does that make them the Oxford branch campus of the senior institution?

No, it's Miami University while Miami (FL) is University of Miami.

Lets keep the politics off the football board, eh? (even if fiami grads aren't to be tolerate in any walk of life)

I think that my post only states facts (on history and what he advocates).  Oh, we all agree that redhawk = stain, right?!

I think it is fair to say that the addition of a Fiami grad to the Republican presidential ticket will have a minimal effect on the popularity of said ticket in the greater Athens area.

And in a effort to keep this post football-related.....The election may be another reason to be concerned about the BUGS game on November 7.  A tired/hungover student section will not be good for crowd energy.

Agreed C Money. Its best for the Bobcats' home energy if the election is called early and decisively on the night of the 6th, whoever the winner may be.

Ball State and toledo play on election night. Will this turn into a repeat of the all blue (Toledo, i would guess, in this case) and all red (ball st.) Buffalo vs. Fiami game on the night of the 2008 Obama/McCain election (all blue and all red, respectively)?

If the student population makes an "election night hangover" their rationale for not being able to make a football game the next night, we are all screwed.

Let's GO HAWKS!

Maybe I'm alone, but I thought that was cool.

I didn't realize they did that until now, but it is pretty cool. I'd like to see Ball State and Toledo do the same thing this season.

Just out of curiosity, did the NCAA approve of the away team wearing their colored jerseys beforehand? Or was it a situation like USC-UCLA where the away team got penalized a time out for a uniform infraction and the home team then called a time out to even it out?

I remember this game fairly well.  However, it appears nobody on the internet gave a crap about it because I can't find video or pictures anywhere.

Edit:  Found something at an online store of someone that sells Buffalo Bulls photos.
