To me, the party school image is a complement. How did we get that image? Because our students ENJOY themselves. Students from other schools come to visit and ENJOY themselves. It's a great atmosphere. Contributing to it is the beautiful campus, the small town feel, the Bobcat pride, etc.
Of course students at every school drink and have parties, but all parties are not created equal. I went to one house party at Temple and I can promise you it was the lamest thing ever. Every big weekend at OU we'd have our friends form Kent, Fiami, OSU, UC, etc. come stay with us. Why? Because their schools are BORING.

Whenever I get hit with the party school routine, I just ask a few questions starting with: “Have you ever been to Ohio University, the school known as a state leader in Fulbright awards, the university with the Russ College of Engineering, the Edison Biotechnology Institute, the Scripps College of Communication, the College of Health Sciences, the school with the Honors Tutorial College, the Patton School of Education, the Heritage School of Osteopathic Medicine…you mean that party school?”
The response received is usually a blank stare.
We work hard and we play hard. I treasure my time and experiences at Ohio and am proud to be part of the Bobcat Nation.
