Ohio University has formed a partnership with Legends Sales and Marketing.

http://www.ohiobobcats.com/genrel/082012aab.html

A three person team will focus on, but not limited to, season ticket sales, group ticket sales, and single game/ promotional tickets.

From the article:

“Legends Sales and Marketing is thrilled to partner with two outstanding entities, Ohio Athletics and the Center for Sports Administration,” said Chad Estis, President, Legends Sales and Marketing.  “This partnership allows us to bring our professional sales approach into a true learning laboratory for Ohio students.”

About Legends Sales and Marketing:

Legends Sales & Marketing, owned by the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, Goldman Sachs and the Checketts Partners Investor Fund, has proven experience in selling ticket inventory for sports venues. Legends currently manages ticket sales for the San Francisco 49ers, the Rose Bowl, The Mansion at Churchill Downs, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the New York Red Bulls’ Red Bull Arena, Southern Methodist University along with a number of other professional teams and NCAA athletic departments.

This is awesome and just what we need to maximize our growth as a fanbase. Bringing in people who sell tickets for a living is a real game changer. The fact that this operation has succeeded in a variety of sports markets bodes well for the Bobcats. We're going to see an appreciable increase in ticket sales across the board with this very shrewd business decision. And the best part of all, the extra folks they help bring in to these games are going to witness a winner.

I got to work with one of the sales team members when I came in to move my football seats back in June. I think they got this started in May or June...just in time for the football sales season.

The girl I worked with was a grad student (Madelyn), and it sounds like there is one other student and another full-time person. They work in the marketing department in the Convo, just down from the ticket office. Friendly, professional and seem very driven to improve things. Met the manager (Drake) and he even gave me a free car flag just for stopping in. The whole concept is a nice personal touch that works well with us "old zoners"!

Hope this continues to push our numbers up...would be great to see Peden packed with regularity! Can't wait for Sept. 1.

This seems to me to be a very good move.  I look forward to seeing an increasing number of butts in seats.

Can't go wrong having a four time letter winning and 2 degree holding Bobcat heading up your sales team!  Hope he cut Ohio a deal on the commission!

NBR...I like how his bio touts how the Cavs attendance doubled while he was there (2001-05). No doubt Chad does what he does very well, but there was a certain #1 draft pick in 2003 that added a wee bit of excitement to a pulseless franchise.
