Here are some observations of the Ohio D:

Held PSU to 131 yards in the 2nd half

Loss of Noah Keller?   I had real concerns about middle linebacker, but Keith Moore represented well.  Very vocal, and good on the blitz.   A leader of the D.   Didn't see that Ben Russell got much pt.

Early game the secondary was giving Waaaay too much space, and it wasn't hard for McGloin to go 9-10 to start on short passes.  It is amazing this team went from arguable two of the best corners in the MAC (Travis Carrie and Omar Leftwich) to Sophs and Fr-R that after they adjusted did a good job.  Before getting too carried away about the pass d, though, PSU dropped 7 passes that I counted.

Pass rush.  Still a big problem.  Someone came in at def. end and showed incredible speed in getting to McGloin (Kendric Smith) but overall there was very weak pressure.  This has got to get better.

MVP of the game on Defense:  Gerald Moore and Jelani Woseley.   Moore is simply a rock solid tackler, and made a big difference on stuffing numerous PSU runs.   Woseley's speed and toughness are such an asset.

Nice to see new faces... Thad Ingol with some serious hits from the safety position
Devin Bass showed nice speed and maturity on the corner

Fun scene:  I actually thought Neil Huynh would be even more disruptive than he was, but it was still nice to see the 310 pounder hurdling a blocker and chashing down a screen play.

Looking ahead:   Does this defense just get better by adding Hughes at safety

Kickoff coverage:   very solid, never had the sense that any seams were open to break the return
