Back in the day, it was common for Peden to start to fill up at 10:00 a.m. for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.  Various student groups . . . particularly fraternities and sororities . . . would try to get there early to get a prime spot on the 50 yard line, or as near as they could get to it.  Some of these groups would have card sections.  Does anyone still remember what those were?  I vividly remember one particular Saturday at about 10:00 I looked over at Peden from Richland Avenue and saw the student section almost full with people sitting in every seat from the North 20 to the South 20.  Several card sections were practicing their routines.  In those days you could see into the stadium from the North End Zone area.  Does anyone think that with the new enthusiasm that seems to be engender by this year's Bobcats that we could see students arriving early to get good seats?  It would seem to me that this might be possible.  Now, if we can only get more them to stay for the second half!  The only two games that I can remember in the last two decades where we had virtually as many on the student side at the end of the game as at half time were the Pitt game and the Akron white-out game when we clinched our first MAC East title.  Oh, yes, the Toledo game the year UT was ranked, and which was nationally televised was also a good crowd until late in the 4th.  Other than that, the student halftime exodus has been in full force.  If the students are truly proud of their team (and it is their team), you'd think they'd at least stay for the whole game.  Perhaps, arriving early would be too much to contemplate.

Doubtful on the fraternities. Most of the good ones have been kicked off of campus in recent memory.
