Found this over on one of the Penn State boards and thought I'd share. Here's a torrent for a nice HD video of our game in Happy Valley, for anyone who wants it. Could be useful for burning DVDs, watching offline/after ESPN3 removes the replay of the game or clearing up some space on your DVR.

1) This is a 'trackerless' torrent. Some Bittorrent clients (namely Vuze) may not work with this. Try uTorrent, Transmission, or a different client if you are not seeing any seeders.

2) The video is not automatically deinterlaced. What that means is that you could see thin lines in the video. The easy solution for this is to play the video with a player that supports deinterlacing. I suggest Quicktime or VLC.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Q: What is a Torrent?
A: A torrent is a type of index file that can be consumed by a Bittorrent application. The index file tells the Bittorrent application how to download the actual content of the torrent which can be anything, but in this case are video files. Torrent files are very small (100-200K) but the actual target video/audio/cd/other file can and usually is much larger.

Q: Where do I get a Bittorrent client?
A: Suggested free clients are:
Windows: uTorrent
Macintosh: Transmission

Q: Will a Bittorrent client give me spyware?
A: It's always possible, but Utorrent and Transmission are good options that should be safe for you. Generally the files you download will be a higher risk than the bittorrent software.

Q: Will your torrent give me spyware? Is it safe?
A: No it won't give you spyware. It's just a big video file.

Q: I installed a client and am downloading the torrent, but it is either downloading slowly or my Internet connection has slowed down.
A: Bittorrent simultaneously downloads the target file and uploads pieces of it to other people who want to download it. This is a type of peer-to-peer system where the more people that want the file the faster it goes for everyone. If you experience speed issues it is probably because your Internet upload speed is fairly slow from your service provider.

If you still don't work, perhaps there is a problem with your DSL/cable router. If that's the case, navigate to this site and find your router model.

Q: What is a seed? Or, I am done downloading the file and can I quit Bittorrent?
A: You can, but when you have 100% of the file and keep your Bittorrent client open you are helping to make the file available to everyone else. It is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to keep the client open to help the other downloaders. People with 100% of the file are called 'seeds'. Worst case scenario, if you want to quit the client for a while why not open it back up before you go to bed and your Internet connection is otherwise idle? The more seeds there are the faster the downloads go for everyone else.

Q: Why aren't there more seeders?
A: Initially, there is one seed until a number of others receive 100% of the file. The initial upload speed is somewhat slow so it generally takes 8-10 hours from the time the torrent is released until the second seeder is available. Don't bother yelling at people for not seeding initially because they can't.

Q: Now that I have a video file, how do I watch it?
A: For Windows, you will need to make sure you have the appropriate video CODECs installed. Without them, pretty much all video players will fail to work for you. The important CODECS for Windows can be found at the following URLs:
Apple Quicktime
Xvid
Mega CODEC Pack

For Macintosh, you should already have the appropriate CODECs installed by default. It is also recommended to install the Perian CODEC pack to ensure full support for all video formats.

For a video player, the free VLC player is recommended for both Windows and Mac.

BEFORE you ask video questions about playback, make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime or VLC installed.

Q: You have one of the following requests:

I want to change the file format.
I want to convert a High Definition video to a Standard Definition video because my computer is too slow to watch HD.
I want to convert an HD file to play on a standard definition iPod.

A: Download the excellent and free MPEG Streamclip program from http://www.squared5.com. Once you have it installed and running, perform the following steps:
File -> Open Files -> Navigate to your video file and click Open
File -> Export to MPEG-4
Select "Sound" as 128kbps, Frame Size as 720x480 (DV-NTSC)
Start the encode and wait. It's best to do this overnight when you are not using your computer.

Q: How do I convert this to a DVD?
A:
For all Windows versions:
Option 1: Roxio Creator. This is a one-step drag and drop process. The software costs $80 but is well worth it for ease of use.
Option 2: DVDFlick
Option 3: Video DVD Maker Free

Install the application and start it
Select "Video DVD" as project type
Select "Make DVD from AVI file" and navigate to the video file of the game. DO NOT click "Next" yet.
On the left side, click Setup and make sure the "System" option is set to DVD NTSC. This is very important.
On the left side, click Timeline. You should have a preview frame now, potentially a black box which is OK. Click next.
You should see the video slowly playing in the preview box and a message on the left saying "Transcoding file". This is good.
Wait a long time until it finishes. On an Intel Core2 Duo 2.6GHz system a conversion from HD720p to DVD took just over 5 hours.
Note: If you use this tool more than once, it defaults to using the same folder for each new DVD you create. This means it will wipe out your old VIDEO_TS files unless you move them or tell it to use a new folder. Just a heads-up to save you from having to do this twice in case you wipe out an already encoded DVD.

For Mac:
Option 1: Roxio Toast. This is a one-step drag-and-drop process. Drag the video into Roxio and it will convert formats and even add DVD titles and menus. This runs $80 but is a great program.

Q: Playback is very slow or doesn't work well, especially for the High Definition files.
A: HD games are in 1080p high definition using MPEG4/H.264 as the video encoding. Playback for those games requires a fast CPU - minimum of something in the Intel Core2 Duo 1.8GHz range. If you have an older CPU (Pentium 3, Pentium 4, etc.) you will not be able to watch the games as they are encoded. All is not lost! Older CPUs can play back MPEG2 format just fine. If you download the torrent and follow the instructions above on how to convert to DVD, you can certainly watch it in that format. It might take a bit of time to convert it to DVD but once you are finished it should play just fine.

Q: How can I easily watch this on my TV?
A: The XBox 360 is my favorite way to do it. You can stream directly from your PC to the XBox 360 over your local network and the video will look great. This is my preferred method and I use it extensively both with these games and other downloadable movies. There are no re-encoding steps required, no burning of discs, etc. Just install the programs and go.

Q: What format are the torrents?
A: The torrents are generally produced in H.264 format that is compatible with Apple TV and the iPad.

Q: How do I convert this for the iPhone/iPod?
A: Mac - Handbrake

Q: How do you make the torrent?
A: Using the Elgato EyeTV HD, which is awesome. It encodes HD/SD video directly to H.264

Q: If I want to capture video myself, do you have any recommendations?
A: Yes, definitely. This is what you want:
