We're taking at least 10 and I'm really excited about the trip.

I'm in +1. Decided to go on Wednesday. Ordered tickets Thursday morning and got them in the mail this (Saturday) afternoon. Great work by the Marshall ticket office.

Anyone staying down in Huntington Saturday night? I'm trying to figure out which hotel to book.

I'm thinking I'm going but trying to figure out a sane way to get there from where I'm at looks impossible. It's like John Madden on a telestrator on Google Maps.

When you order tickets make sure you request Ohio fan section. When we usually go to Huntington our fans are spread all over the stadium. Would be nice to sit in same sections.

When I called on Thursday they said they didn't have the tickets for our section back from the OHIO ticket office yet, and didn't know when they would be able to start selling them.

The guy on the phone was very helpful though and got me aisle seats in section 105, right next to our section.

Thinking about making the trip since I've never been there either.  Worth getting there early for a Marshall tailgate?

Message Not Read  A lot of good tailgating going on. usually starts around 3 hours before the game. Expecting a good crowd, probably 33-35k saturday. should be a crazy atmosphere. This is the game that will decide both of our seasons in my opinion. (NT)

In plus a lot.  What is the official in counter?  People I carpool with? People I sit with?

I've seen crazier things happen.

Gallia cat:  since you all are from around Gal-pless you will prolly get home quickly from the game.  Please give us out in the boondocks a full report on how things went, including fan behavior.  I really enjoy your bright and often very funny comments here.  That note on Ohio, Lehigh, and your better half during b-ball season still has me chuckling every time I see a comment from you.  And you will prolly hear this old line often during game:  Only difference between West Virginians and SOBs?  The Ohio River.   And you can reply:  The three Rs in West Virginia are:  reading, 'riting and the route to Akron.

First I'd like to say going to the Marshall game two years ago was probably my second favorite tailgating experience (second to Tennessee). I've been to a lot of college football games. Second, I think it's pretty lame we don't bring more fans to Marshall than we do. It's the only real rivalry we have right now; the only team and fanbase that's willing to give a little resistance (Miami is dead). And from my limited, one time, experience I'd say the home fans were great to us.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised about the environment down in Huntington. It's like a mini SEC school. And the stadium looks great when it's filled to the top. Which it absolutely will for this game.

I've been planning to go to the game all year. I'm going with a couple other buddies but we have yet to buy tickets. I would have gotten them earlier but there was never a link or advertisement in an email or the OU athletics website.

This game is severely under-marketed on OHIO's campus. They should pimp the road tickets to this game like they're trying to fill Peden (maybe offer incentives like a free T-shirt for every ticket, pickup only). There should absolutely be a Ozone bus trip to this Marshall game. But there is not. There should be a bus trip to every road game at Marshall for as long as the rivalry is maintained. Bringing Athens to Huntington will only enhance the experience.

I can only hope we bring a lot more than 133. I know we will, but we won't be able to match the impressive amount we brought to State College.

I have been to almost every Ohio -Marshall game in Huntington and have NEVER had a bad fan experience. Their fans are passionate and that's the way it should be. I agree with the comment that this game is not marketed more on campus. I don't think our current students grasp what a great rivalry this has been.

I know several people that are going and have not purchased tickets yet either. Ohio will definately have more than 133 fans there. heck the Marching band alone will be larger than that number.

+1

Like I said in the other thread:

Is there anything being done to get students down to Huntington? I know the OZone isn't taking buses, but are there any carpool efforts?

I bet many students don't realize how close Huntington is to Athens. With the 6:30 kickoff you could easily watch a noon game, leave Athens in the afternoon, stay for the whole game and still make it back in time to celebrate the win on Court Street for a few hours.

It's easily the closest roadtrip we have this season. Someone needs to make that clear to the students.

LOVE hearing that you all are so enthusiastic about coming down to Huntington.

I'm surprised a lot of you all have never been here, but never the less... hope you all have a great time.

We had a LOT of people around the stadium and tailgating last game but not a lot of people went into the stadium due to the lack of quality opponent... I forsee that not being the case this game and we'll have easily over 30,000 butts in the stands.

Here is the link to a visitor guide for Huntington

http://marshall.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=2236&tid=177006981&mid=177006981&sid=1082&style=2

For those who have never been here... Food wise I would definitely recommend Fat Patty's. They have easily the best burgers in Huntington and it's right next to the stadium... easy to find.

For Lodging you should try the Pullman Plaza hotel downtown or Holiday in right by Pullman, that puts you right in Pullman Square for shopping, food, movies etc... those might be booked already so you're probably gonna have to find a hotel right outside of downtown on RT 60... which is about a 7-10 min drive to the stadium.

Your alls section is gonna be 101... so if you are trying to get tickets, hopefully they are there... or you can try to move to that section.

Do you all know if you're bringing your Band/Mascot/Cheerleaders? I'm sure the people who saw the 110 last year will want to see them again. They did a good job.

Anyway if you all have anymore questions just ask.

We are... Marshall!

The Marshall game is one of the two away games (other being Penn State) that the 110 is traveling to.

The Holiday Inn was sold out. I booked the Pullman Plaza Hotel last night. $127 total for one night. A little more than the other hotels in Huntington, but I don't mind paying more to be in a prime location (hence why I dropped nearly $250 for one night in the Days Inn State College one block off Beaver Ave).

The 110 will be there for the game!

The 110 will be there.  They are larger than ever.  They had almost 300 students tryout and are marching 240 this year (up from 214 last year).  Not only that, they actually dropped the flags to make room for more instruments , so the net gain in sound is even greater.

My season tickets are on the aisle in section 105- row 10. Visiting sections are 103 and 101. Below is a link to the seating chart. You can click on each section to get an idea of the view.

I would recommend the Holiday Inn over Pullman Plaza simply because its a newer, updated property. Pullman is a little outdated IMO, especially for the rate charged. But its not a huge deal, its clean and has its own parking garage. Coach Bobby Pruett's Steakhouse is also in the lobby of the Pullman Plaza and its usually where the visiting team stays.

As far as being in the middle of it all, Pullman Plaza is in the heart of it. You're across the street from Pullman Square. You're also a block down from the Marshall Hall of Fame Cafe a must see if you've never been to Huntington. Ask to sit in the bar area and try to hit up Happy Hour (4-7) on Friday. The Hall of Fame has cases of Marshall athletics memorabilia and a display of props used in the filming of We Are... Marshall. Roosters is good at Pullman Square as is Max and Ermas and Unos.

Pullman Square is hosting Chilifest 2012 on Saturday the 15th(6am - 6pm) as well. They close down 3rd avenue in front of Pullman Square and have it on the street.
