They are favored to win the rest of their games, and although you shouldn't expect them to get consideration for a BCS bowl...

I still think at 13-0, you HAVE to be in consideration.  I just don't believe a 13-0 team would be ranked outside the top 12.

With that being said,

I want to do everything right, right now.

I love that line from Solich. So true about this program and this season in particular. One game at a time.

I like that they are confident, but not cocky. I love that we have Frank and I think he knows how much the fan base supports him.

I feel like there was a rumor or story at one time that he came to Athens because his parents were close by, is this true or just another story as to why he came.

I have heard Frank say publicly that he took the Ohio job because of Rod McDavis.
I assume it was the level of support that he would get from the administration.

Not to be funny, but didn't he go to Ohio because he got fired by Nebraska?  Also, aren't there some serious drinking / alcoholism issues with Frank?  Again, not trying to be funny at all.  This has always been my understanding of why he went to and remains at Ohio.

Did marshall Hire Doc Holliday because Wyatt Earp was unavailable?

Wow thats really not cool, passing out drunk once does not a problem make.  And even if he had an issue at some point that he has now taken care, there are plenty of coaches out there at higher programs with similar or worse issues. The reason he is at OHIO is his first two stints coaching were in High School and both were rebuilding jobs and after Nebraska he decided that he had the most fun coaching when rebuilding a program.  Secondly Solich is a very loyal person, considering how many years he spent at Nebraska it shouldn't surprise anyone that he has stayed.  Especially at his age what major or semi-major program would take him on that would interest him enough?

If you would have saw the state of our program at the time you would have been drunk half the time too.

There's a reason that we call him "Frank the Tank."

There is a big difference between Ohio and Boise.  Ohio doesn't suck at basketball.  Boise pumped everything into one sport.  We have two good ones.

It is true that he was found passed out one night, but other than that night, no one has ever reported seeing him drunk either before or after that night. Yes, he would not be in Athens if he hadn't been fired at Nebraska, but after he was fired, he took a year off, and considered where he wanted to coach. Ohio was one of only a few schools that saw value. If I recall correctly, the other one that made an offer to him was Army. Therefore I would say that Frank is at Ohio because Ohio saw value, and reached out to him.

To answer another question, Frank isn't from the Athens area, but he was born in coal mining country in Pennsylvania, and then lived in Cleveland through High School, so he has some familiarity with the general part of the country, and I'm sure that helps to make him fit in better and feel more comfortable in Athens. I do agree that the support he gets from McDavis is critical, too.

He's the kind of a guy that doesn't really fit in the eye of the media. The scrutiny with which every decision he made at Nebraska was very uncomfortable, I think. He obviously enjoys having a feeling of accomplishment, and the scrutiny at Nebraska made that impossible, so even before he was fired, I'm not sure he was really happy. By contrast, at Ohio you can tell he enjoys what he is doing, which is why he continues to coach past 65. He has a feeling of accomplishment, and also the freedom to run the program right, without being constantly second guessed. It's a relationship that has worked well for both Ohio and Frank..

That's good.  Now you may make the claim that you put your history degree to work.

I have often wondered if one of the reasons he got picked was that Ohio used a search committee that included one or two current players. I really have no idea, but I don't think that is normally how it is done, yet perhaps it should be. Players may have a different idea of what they are looking for. Whatever else you want to say about him, I know for certain his players will play hard for him.

If we someone how manage to make a BCS bowl this year Ohio University will have more 10 win seasons and more BCS bowl appearances under Frank than Nebraska has had since they fired him. that would be neat to see.

i agree, Im a Nebraska fan till i die,but Frank got the shaft at NU,this school has done very little sinse the time Frank was let go and to see him rebuild a team from where it was to where it is today is amazing. ive watched your team play everytime they are on tv rooting the team and Frank. he is still held in high regard with most fans for his loyalty he had to NU and evrything he accomplished here. you have a great coach and a very good team, congrats and best of luck this year

You've got your stories mixed up. It was our AD, Jim Schaus, who came here because his parents live(d) in Morganhole and he wanted to be closer to them than he was out in Wichita.

I like that Coach still is able to learn.  Quick evidence on that:  1) instituted a passing/pistol offense at Ohio upon seeing the need and 2) has come to realize what type of player to recruit (bad apples and/or youngsters who want to play in front of 80,000 every week and in the huge national spotlight need not apply).

Not only do we have a team that we can root for, we seem to have players who we can be prOUd of.

Frank Solich is a football coach.

If you think he would pass up a 4 star recruit that has BCS offers, you're kidding yourself.

Not sure I like the blue turf that they photoshopped the attack cat onto.  The colors clash.

I saw another story recently that used "Ohio football" and "powerhouse" in the same sentence.  Never thought I'd see that.

I distinctly remember coming home late one Saturday night after attending a loss at EMU in 1988 or 1989 and telling my wife that we were really making progress because we only had three delay-of-game penalties due to an inability to get the play called in time.  Previous games that year had been much worse.  I was really encouraged.

My, how far we've come.
