The 2012 Battle for the Bell = Record Sixth Largest Crowd According to Herald-Dispatch.  I would have guessed YSU or Morehead State.

A couple of games against wvu were about 40,000. VA Tech and Kansas State, when they both were ranked. had large crowds.  Our former AD cancelled home games against Tennessee and the real Miami, The former AD is one of the reasons our program is not very successful at the present time. He made a stupid hire and we are still trying to recover. Plus the NCAA hurt the program like it has killed Penn State this year.

Way to sneak the "Penn State is no good this year so you should not be proud of the victory" comment. When Penn State played Ohio they had lost 9 players, most backup underclassman. That means they still had 76 Big Ten recruits on the field.

Secondly, the NCAA was only enforcing the rules, the schools hurt themselves by committing major violations and losing institutional control.

I do agree that Marshall has never recovered from the NCAA sanctions. They picked the wrong time to leave the MAC as they would had weathered the NCAA sanction storm slot easier had they stayed.

Goodness, don't be so paranoid. PSU lost to UVA and look at how my Hoos did against Georgia Tech  yesterday. PSU only has one sure win left on their ;Indiana which lost to testical tech. They only play football in Indiana at Purdue and Notre Dame. PSU is looking at maybe three wins this season, but I think Temple will beat them.

Penn State's loss to Virginia can indeed be blamed on the sanctions due to the loss of their kicker. They should have won that game. Against Ohio their lack of a kicker wasn't a big issue, and it isn't clear how much the loss of Redd hurt them. More of an issue was that they had a new coach, and new systems. As they adjust to his systems, they will get better, and you already see signs of that in their win this week.

I think it says something about Marshall's choice of conferences when little ole Ohio U can cause Marshall to have their 6th best attendence at the Joan.  Why can't all those CUSA heavyweights cause big crowds since they have such huge followings?

You know, Marshall fans are always saying we should thank them. Maybe they should thank us.
