OHIO makes its inaugural trip to Gillette Stadium (home of the New England Patriots) on September 29th to face UMass in its first Mid American Conference game, and the Massachusetts Chapter Serving New England would like to invite all Attackers to make the trip to Boston for the game.

Boston is the city in which the doctrine establishing OHIO was written, so we are hoping to welcome Bobcats from across the country to make the pilgrimage to New England for some historical immersion and great Bobcat football.  The Chapter can also provide details if you wish to visit the sites of the Bunch of Grapes Tavern (site of the drafting of the Northwest Ordinance), General Rufus Putnam's House and Manasseh Cutler's Church/Home/Grave site.

Contrary to the traditional OUAA bashes, this event will be held in a tailgate setting in the parking lot of Gillette Stadium as opposed to being hosted in a venue.  Festivities will include a silent auction, cornhole tournament, flip cup tournament and split the pot.  We encourage all attendees to join us in our tailgate area regardless of whether or not you choose the Bash option (which will include food and drink).

Additionally, the Chapter has contacted all Mid American Conference member Alumni Association Chapters in New England to drive attendance for the game and create a warm welcome for our new Conference bretheren.

Online registration for the Bobcat Bash will open as soon as the final details are established, and if any proceeds are generated they will be deposited into our Chapter's newly established "Bunch of Grapes" scholarship, which will benefit a student residing in New England that chooses to attend Ohio University.

DETAILS:
Date: Saturday, September 29th
Location: Foxborough, MA
Venue: Gillette Stadium http://www.gillettestadium.com/
Gillette Stadium Parking: FREE for all UMass games

Great idea. Being a Columbus transplant I was pleased to see a game only 20 minutes from home.
Last year I drove down to the Rutgers Game, and enjoyed being with a few 100 Bobcat Fans.

I would expect total attendence for this game in the 15,000 - 20,000 range.

The 15-20k is a realistic guess but people think the attendance numbers will be influenced by our Aug 30th performance against UConn. If we are competitive and a nice day, then the low to mid 20's is possible.

The seating chart is not moving much now but will certainly keep an eye on it Labor Day weekend.

Really hoping Gillette Stadium will be alive for Ohio. We had coach Charley Molnar on for over three minutes during the Patriot half time and then some photos in Bob Kraft's suite with Coach Cal, who has always been very loyal to UMass.

Booked UMASS & PSU Bobcat Bashes.. And with the Bengals starting tonight, I'm officially ready for football!

I will admit, a Sweet Sixteen run sure did keep my mind off football longer than normal though

Can't wait for it. Going to be at least +1, hopefully more.

Good to hear bash will be a tailgate, the indoor ones seem to completely take out the pregame feel to being there usually. (Just one person's opinion.)

UMass should be asking for it's money back on the disaster of a tv commercial that's been running the past week. Can't believe I've had to see that over and over again. I keep thinking my tv is on the fritz.

I have added a ticket purchase option through the Massachusetts Chapter on the Bobcat Bash Registration Page listed in the first post of this thread.

It was unclear if Ticketmaster was going to open any sections behind the Ohio bench, so I am working with UMass ticketing to coordinate the sale of seats in Section 134, the only section that will be opened behind the OHIO bench.  That is, unless we are able to sell the 250 tickets in that section, which will then allow them to open another section.

Both $25 and $10 ticketing options are available through the Chapter, but the order deadline is two weeks prior to the game.

PM me if you have any questions.

EDIT: I confirmed that tickets purchased through the OHIO ticket office are also in 134, in case anyone had previously purchased tickets through them.

I am only going to miss one game this season and it is UMass. After seeing a flip cup tournament on the agenda, I may have to tell my friends our Pinehurst trip is cancelled.

We have nearly sold out our Bobcat Bash, FYI.

Due to this being an unprecedented first Bash for the Chapter, we have currently capped registration at 100.  If you are considering purchasing the Bash option I urge you to register ASAP, and we will also do our best to accommodate over 100 through recruiting more Chapter volunteers to support the event.

And one more reminder that the deadline for ordering discount tickets through the Chapter is 3:00pm, Friday, September 14th.  This is necessary to allow for mailing tickets to those that do not want to pick their tickets up at the Bash before the game.

Thanks for the great response!

FYI, registration is now closed for purchasing discount tickets, as well as down to the final 11 for the Bash.

The Chapter sold 156 game tickets, and we presently are nearly double what we had originally planned for the Bash, with 189 our current head count for the Bash.  If any Attackers wish to register for the Bash, PM me ASAP.

According to the Alumni Association, this will be the largest, non-MACC, MAC away game bash ever.

I guess winning matters.
