My only real concern as we move forward, is TT's injury.

I have no real information, just speculation on my part, but I really think he's got busted ribs.

He got flat-out STUCK in the Marshall game, and he hasn't been the same since.

Thankfully, I've never had a broken rib, but I did have separated ribs, once, on my right side, and that was horrible. It hurts to do anything, and I mean anything. There's nothing they can do as far as treatment; you just have to let it heal.

They told me if they were broken, it hurts more, and takes longer to heal... I had rib pain (bad) for about two weeks... broken takes six to eight weeks to heal, so it probably hurts pretty well for 3 or 4 weeks.

A big part of our offense is TT's mobility. I think the game yesterday would have been put away by the mid-second quarter if we scored the expected TDs on those trips to the red-zone, instead of coming up empty, or settling for field goals.

I have to think that a healthy TT delivers, and we don't let UMASS think they've got a chance.

Thank you Danny Doom.

No you have a point...but I'm thinkin it's severly bruised ribs.  Seperated ribs are like seperated shoulders....and Frank wouldn't risk it especially after Vick's game and the UMASS game supposedly a blowout.

We can beat Buffalo with Vick so I'm not concerned if he sits that game.

The D needs to show up ....tackle somebody.

The more I think about this, the more I think you're correct. Solich listing this as an undisclosed upper body injury is to not give defenses something to key in on. I was watching the game yesterday and kept wondering if a 100% Vick is better than a 70% Tettleton. I love his leadership on the field but there were several times he could have scrambled for positive yardage and instead just fell to the ground. Luckily if he takes care of them, he should get back slowly each and every week.

Vick was solid vs NSU.  But I think all can agree that there is a big difference between them and our MAC opponents.  I trust Frank and the staff on personnel decisions.  It's not their first rodeo.

Defend the eyepatch! Go 1-0!

I think they're hoping T2 can at least be effective for the next two games, then he'll have the off week before Fiami to get well enough for the stretch.  That'll be the sixth week since the injury.

OK doomers....TT back to pass and his rib falls off.

Raise your hand if you think Frank would play TT with the the kind of injury you are describing?

That's what I thought.....saw no hands.

Rib injury makes sense.  Will linger for many weeks.  But TT plays.  He threw for a first down when we were at about the UMass 32.  Took us to their 28.  I don't remember if it was a3rd down toss or a 4th down toss but he hit Thompson.  I don't remember which points it preceded but it was about half way thru Q4.

It was a terrific play.  There was no doubt that he was just going to run out of bounds, nobody open--WAIT throws and it's complete!

TT is not All-American caliber for his pure physical ability, rather for his presence, has ability to make plays.  And that was an exceptional play.

I agree.. to a point.

But the fact is, TT intentionally avoided contact a few times. We know it's an abdominal sort of injury. We also know he couldn't make all the throws for Norfolk St., which is why Vick played.

That implies TT could make SOME of the throws, so some movements are impeded, and others are not.

His ribs won't fall off; it just hurts.

So, yeah, I can see Coach relying on TT's self assessment of if he can play... and I know TT is tough and wants to play. It would not surprise me if TT was saying he's fine.

This discussion reminds me of an injury suffered by my son Ben when he was 17.  I saw the X-ray.  The crack was about 1.5" long and .75" wide.  Nasty.

Four weeks later his youthful body had filled in the crack with new bone tissue.  His doc cleared him to play in a title game.  The doc told Ben and us that Ben would feel pain but that there was no danger to disrupting the healing process.  Youth will be served.

Which brings me to Dovell and his cracked bone.  I'm wondering if he would be sufficiently healed to practice and play in a MAC title or bowl game.

Well hell yeah it hurts.

Did you want him to run the option and  get creamed and be out for the season?

I'd say Frankie will be smart enough to know or not know whether or nor to start TT versus Buffalo?

Anyone disagree?

Yeah, I disagree!

If he can't play using the entire offense, and play well, then he SHOULDN'T play. He's a hard sack or tackle from being back to square one.

Play Vick, and let TT rest.

It seems like a no-brainer to me.

I don't think there is any doubt that Ohio's offense this past weekend had a lot to do with protecting TT. That's ok with me as long as we can keep winning. At this point I am more worried about the defense. Are there any key players on D that will be coming back soon? I know Carrie is out for season. The others?

Buffalo and Akron will probably be looking to throw on us.  After Saturday, we're giving up an average of 94 yds a game rushing and 260 passing.

Buffalo's backup QB is likely to start against us, and he's 17-52 in the last 2 games. I think they're going to try to throw, but still, they'll have a tough time.
