Assuming I wish Ohio to be this year's BCS buster (I do), which teams should I be paying special attention to in the coming weeks? I know we'll want Rutgers, Boise State, Louisville, Louisiana Tech and Cincinnati to do poorly. Anyone else? Essentially I'm pulling for us to finish ranked higher than #16 and ahead of anyone from the Big East (or B1G)?

By the way, no need to respond with "one game at a time" or "we just need to take care of OUr business and let everything else work itself out." I know that. I'm just having fun dreaming up scenarios where the Bobcats get the opportunity to play in the Orange (or some other big-time bowl). Let a guy have his dreams!

Not a specific team, but I'm rooting for a very sloppy Big 10 season. At this rate, Louisville might be ranked higher than whoever wins the B1G. As much as it pains me to say this, root for OSU (and Penn State, but I have no problem rooting for them) to win their B1G conference games against the teams in the conference that could win the championship (Michigan, Sparty, Nebraska, etc.). Since OSU & PSU aren't bowl eligible, they won't be ranked in the BCS poll. That way, whoever does win the B1G will be ranked further down in the polls.

I'm also rooting against BYU. I know they have two losses already, but they could still be ranked higher than us if they beat the ranked teams left on their schedule (Notre Dame & Oregon State).

I've been meaning to bring this up for a few weeks now.  I totally agree, what a worthless thing to be posting over and over.  You know who's mentality has absolutely zero impact on the teams performance? All of ours.  We don't need to focus on one game at a time, or not looking past our next opponent.  This has been an amazing season so far and we should all feel free to dream big and enjoy the excitement. Staying "grounded" and refusing to get excited over our future prospects does nothing but put a wet blanket on excited fans.

Couldn't disagree more.  Multiple players have told me they don't even bother showing up if Bobcatattack picks an OU victory.

The more I see from Louisville, the more I think the Big East might not be our route to the BCS.  I am still holding out hope that us winning will get us up to #12.  It shouldn't IMO, but if Ball State did it a couple of years ago before they choked why not us?  In that scenario, my biggest fear is Boise... Now that they got past BYU, who do they lose to? Can we leapfrog them?

I never considered the PSU or OSU win the B1G route... Very interesting to consider.  I hate it, but I guess I need to cheer for OSU.  I had been rooting against them for many reasons.  One being stealing their votes in the AP... But that doesn't matter.

One way I could see us leapfrogging Boise is if the MAC doesn't beat up on itself.  Hopefully someone in the MAC can end up with 1 loss going into the MAC title game from the West...  If Toledo, NIU, BSU and maybe Kent can all win against all MAC teams besides us, that could help wake up voters...

I've seen crazier things happen.

If Boise State has as much trouble beating the Mountain West as they did BYU, I like Ohio's chances of leapfrogging them. In fact, I'm willing to bet Boise will lose to Nevada. The Wolf Pack looks tough again this year, and if Stefphon Jefferson has a performance similar what Le'Veon Bell did to the Broncos they should be in good shape.

Seeing that I am leading the board in BCS hype, sarcasm would be a safe assumption.

With what we know now, I think rooting against Boise helps the most, lest we end up ranked highly like Ball State, but without being the highest non-AQ.

Conference that we should be looking out for: Big XII. They've got 6 legit teams who could possibly make it to the BCS and haven't had two teams in since 2008. If they all beat up on each other and only get one, that's huge.

We gotta get through walk-throughs, practices let alone the bus ride to UMASS, one thing at a time people!!!!!! HAH!!!

I agree with the above posters....its fun to dream....let the coaches and team worry about the "one game at a time" mentality, we are fans...short for fanatics....its our job to dream.....

So with that said...how do we get in the BCS title game??????????

Am I the only person that doesn't see busting the BCS as a scenario that I want to play out?  Didn't UConn lose a boatload of money for their trip because they didn't sell enough of their ticket allotment?

Ted Thompson already addressed this in another thread, but this isn't exactly true.  That scenario wouldn't affect us the way it did for UCONN, but I'm unsure of the specifics.  i'll try to find the link to his post.

If we don't get the automatic non-AQ bid, then we don't get into the BCS. There's no way a BCS bowl uses an at-large spot on us. We simply don't have the fan base to warrant being selected over a second Big XII team, no matter if we are undefeated and they have a couple losses.

The difference as I understand it is that UCONN always gets a share of the Big East's BCS bowl money when it is divided out, which is already in some manner budgeted in and spent just like their TV revenue.  Even if they got a larger chunk for being the team to go, it wasn't enough to cover their expenses.

That isn't the case with the MAC, all the revenue would be new, unexpected revenue and should easily cover the costs.

Well, not losing the money in the case we would bust the BCS calms me a little.  However, I think I'd still rather finish around 15th and play a respectable opponent in a decent bowl, and get the W, and have an unblemished record than potentially have to play Florida State in their home state in the Orange Bowl and possibly lose by 4 TDs . . .

It's a nice thought, and I'd like a winnable but name-brand game as well, but like Ball State, if we don't go BCS, we're probably playing a Sun Belt or C-USA team.

Probably not, and to each their own.  I would prefer to let our boys have a chance to upset Florida State and take over the country for a few days.  You know they could do it!

Which is why I stated that we need them to beat up on each other. It still needs to happen for us to have a shot at getting the automatic bid. If there are one, two, or even three Big XII teams ranked ahead of us it won't matter because we won't get ranked high enough.
