I checked the record book. His 43 carries ties Bill Gary from 1790 against Kent State for the Ohio record. His 249 yards is good for 6th for a game. At his current pace he would end up with 374 carries and 1816 yards for the season, both easily surpassing the prior records of 295 carries and 1434 yards, by McRae in 2007. His 5 100 yard games ties him for 9th, and he needs 3 more to tie the record of 8 held my McRae in 2006 and Hookfin in 1998.

Darn typos......

Also, he had 269 yards, not 249, which is good for 3rd in Ohio history, trailing only Kareem Wilson in 1996 against BG with 282 yards, and Dick Conley in  1966 against Marshall with 275.

In 1790 it was tailback Faster Than Deer from the Shawnee who rushed for 1000 yards in a stickball game against the Lower Tennessee River  Cherokee on the Plains of Athens County.  FTD however received more than 50 stick blows to his head and retire on a concussion pension with 3 games left to go.

That, of course, was back when Doc Bobcat was merely Intern Bobcat.

Thanks, Doc, that really gave me a good laugh.  I was just about to post something sarcastic about L.C.'s typo, but you beat me to the punch with much better material!

Now, the mere mention of Bill Garry (I think his name has a double "r," but I'm going from memory) reminds me of our 35-6 (also from memory) victory over UK in 1971.  The Kentucky PA guy kept saying "Garry on the Carry" all night as the Bobcats rolled up mucho yardage on the Mildcats.  The carry that night, however, that is forever embedded in my brain is one of his last ones.  It was in the final few minutes of the game.  Coach Hess had obviously told his boys that they weren't going to score any more TDs.  On one play Garry busts through the center of the line (in a fashion much like his modern day reincarnation, Beau) and has nothing but open space between him and the goal line.  The line of scrimmage being about on the UK 20.  When Garry reaches about the five yard line the turf monster tackles him.  It was the most obvious "flop," I've ever seen and would have made Tommy Freeman quite proud.  (No offense,  borna, Tommy took many legitimate charges in his illustrious career, but he could at times compete for the Academy Awards with the best of them.)
