Tremayne Scott out four weeks with a foot injury and Jamil Shaw out the season.

Shaw didn't play against Marshall.  Never like injuries, but if we had to lose Tremayne Scott for 4 games, the next 4 would be the ones I'd choose. Hope he is back for Miami.

I was at the Penn State game and Jamil took a hard hit on a block out of bounds along the Ohio sideline.  He stayed in game a few plays, but that may have been when he was hurt.

Yes, PSU was where Shaw got hurt. He tried to keep playing, but couldn't. He is out for the season now. That's a loss of three starting corners since the end of last season (Omar Leftwich, Carrie, and Shaw).

TT is also hurt, and picked up a new injury against Marshall. He plans to play, but Solich is going to try to limit his practice some.

I wonder if it would be a huge risk to give Derrius Vick the start vs. Norfolk State. Insane idea?

Down three corners from last season and minus your best pass rusher for four weeks will test this team's depth.

So can anybody give me the two deep at CB right now?  I honestly have no idea.

At some point do we start having safeties at CB?

Starters are Fisher and Wells, and the backups are Bass and Leftwich. Behind those four, I have very little idea. Hughes used to be a corner, I think. Denton, too. Walkons that have may be playing some include Scipio and Ray, but they may be playing on special teams rather than at corner. There won't be any looking to the true Freshmen for help because, unlike most years, there were no scholarship Freshmen CBs this year. The only other CB's on the roster are a couple walkons that I know nothing about, Brian Hairston and Mike Terpin. Both are Redshirt Freshman

It appears the timing of these injuries is about the same time as last year. We then lost 3 out or 4.
I do believe we have more depth this year, but the D at the position we are now most concerned about will be seen by our opponents as a weakness. Which ever opponent has a good passing game stands to gain the most.

I've heard that Hairston has looked ok in practice so he could provide some depth. Denton has always been listed as a cb although he plays sort of a hybrid linebacker.

Hopefully Shaw can return when we enter the tougher part of OUr schedule.  In the meantime I look for the rotation of Wells/Fisher/Bass to continue to improve.

Solich said that Shaw was done for the year.

It's funny how every year some position gets hit hard. One year it was safety. For two or three years it was the offensive line. One year it was defensive end. DT has been hit before. Same for TE.  This year it is CB. Thankfully Ohio had very good depth, but I'd sure hate to lose any more.

My bad.....I knew Frank said someone would be out 4 games....was thinkin it was Shaw but it was Scott at DE.

Hopefully Branz and Barber and Kendric Smith can get some more time at DE.

If needed, I suppose they can move Clark back to CB, and I guess Macer has been moved from SS to CB, and Scipio, after playing a variety of positions is working in the 5 man rotation at corner, per Arkley (Fisher, Bass, Leftwich, Scipio, and Macer).

In addition to the CB's on the roster, there is an Anderson listed as a DB.  It says he played for ONU last year.

Macer has the size and quicks and football smarts (high school quarterback) to play CB.

Leave Clark at WR.....he's a game changer.

Looks like a lengthy list again this week. Futrell, Herman and Carlotta among others according to Arkley's twitter feed.

Carlotta didn't play at all against Norfolk State. He's having a great year, but if he can't go, Lechner will take the LG spot. The only problem is that would normally make McQueen the backup at LT, and he's out, too. Meanwhile at LG, Pritchard is also out. Prior and Lechner may each have to go the distance, or we may see more of Seth Everhart, who took four snaps against Norfolk State at either LG or LT, not sure which. At the RG spot, Sam Johnson and Mike Lucas can handle the position if Herman is out, so I'm not worried there. Both have played very well when they have been in.

The WR position is getting scarier, though. Dovell and Sebastian Smith are out for the season already, and Futrell is out for the game. Meanwhile Foster, Cochran, Clark, and Landon Smith have also had injury issues, if I have it right.

Hate to see a true freshman at WR lose his redshirt.....but we have two decent ones if depth becomes an issue.

Or you could just keep splitting out additional tight ends like certain formations that have been used frequently already.  Hill has some speed.  Robak isn't swift but having that size out there when a run is always something the defense has to be aware of can cause some mismatches in blocking schemes.

I like our depth at WR.  I still think Bussey could step up in a huge way as needed.

I hate to be a wet blanket but the way these injuries seem to be piling up is making me nervous. The only positives I see are in theory an easy schedule with the possible exception being Miami. From UMass to EMU on paper it isn't a super tough part of the schedule so hopefully guys can get well rested and the depth chart can get some in game experience. This would be beneficial for the BG, BSU, Kent, and hopefully (knock on wood) the Championship game. I guess just keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best.

On the OL, they may be able to use JD Bales to back up at guard, [possibly at tackle.  I think the coaches are very high on Lucas Powell at center and are trying to get reps for him since both JD and Skyler will graduate after this season.

OF23, I agree with you but: The good news is that the bad news is quite universal. We just don't delve into the fan sites and other sources of information about the rest of the college football world enough to know that injuries are an issue "everywhere." OUr team is truly blessed with having talented players to turn to to "git 'er dun."
