Wow....

Approaching top 25 earlier than I thought. AP Voters don't care about blowout style points.

I think Frankie will do a good job of getting his team to Ignore the polls...survive and advance.

'08 Ball State entered at 25 after week 7 in the AP, 1 vote ahead of Wisconsin.  They were 29 in the Coaches, 23 points out.  Before the MAC Championship, they'd risen to #12 AP, #13 in the Coaches, #12 in BCS.

Coaches don't seem to like us as much, even with OSU out bumping us up a spot.  We'll see.

That is true, my hope is that the couple teams from 25-33 ahead of us that didn't lose didn't dominate either.

A visit to Pollstalker shows that we actually had 8 more voters casting votes for us on their AP Top 25 ballot than Michigan -- we got pushed out by Michigan because a "rouge" reporter (Jon Wilner, San Jose Mercury News) decided to place Michigan at #14 (higher than any other voter). That #14 vote gave them more than enough points to edge out our beloved Bobcats.

Get your pitchforks, men!

Here's the chart I referred to in my previous post. As you can see, Ohio held the 25th place on the chart (in terms of number of reporters who included the team on their ballot). It wasn't even close between 25th and 26th (Ohio and Michigan):

Team   # of Votes   Highest Rank   Lowest Rank
 LSU
 Oregon
 Oregon State
 Clemson
 USC
 Florida
 West Virginia
 South Carolina
 Florida State
 Stanford
 Georgia
 Alabama
 Notre Dame
 Kansas State
 Texas
 Ohio State
 Oklahoma
 Mississippi State
 Louisville
 Rutgers
 Cincinnati
 Louisiana Tech
 Texas A&M
 Boise State
 Ohio
 Michigan
 Baylor
 TCU
 Iowa State
 Michigan State
 Arizona State
 Washington
 North Carolina State
 Nebraska
 Texas Tech
 Tulsa
 Penn State
 Duke
 Northwestern
 Arizona
 Tennessee

Just bummed because I think it would have been extra-special to play on Homecoming as a nationally-ranked team.

I think the Penn St. win this weekend gave us a few more votes.

well, slap me on the ass and call me Judy.  I'll take it.  I guess at some point, the streak takes on a life of its own. Keep on winning.

#31 in the coaches poll. I'm really surprised by this. May  be more about teams moving down then us moving up.

Next week #22A&M(4-1) plays #23LaTech(5-0). That guarantees a loss that will likely bump us up. If LaTech wins though they will become the favored BCS Buster.

Ha ha. I see what you did there. "Rogue" as opposed to "rouge."

And to think I graduated from Scripps...

If the Sports Illustrated article does run this week, that will help our ranking more than anything else (except an Oho victory of course).
