It isn't a matter of now or never. This may be Solich's best team so far at Ohio, but the odds are that his future teams will be better still, because the quality of recruits keeps going up every year. I say it "may be" his best team with a bit of uncertainty, however.  At the beginning of the year I would have said it clearly was his best team, but with all the injuries, I'm not sure it is better than last year, though it is at least comparable.

My thought is this - enjoy the year for what it is. If Ohio ends up 10-2 or 11-1, enjoy that - It's still a great year. If they end up undefeated, but don't manage to bust the BCS, enjoy that. If they make the BCS, even better. Regardless of how it ends up, however, you can see the steady progress the program is making. The team is getting better. Attendance is going up. Facilities are improving. Recruiting is improving. If they don't manage to bust the BCS this year, then perhaps next year will be the year, or the year after.

I thought last year would be the year they had a shot to be undefeated, but even though they ended up losing four, it was still a great year. This one will be, too, and so will next year, and the year after. Here's another prediction for you - so long as Solich is coaching, Ohio will never again fail to win at least 9 games in a year, and a "bad season" will be defined as one with only nine wins.

Keep in mind, too, that the "new" "playoff" permanently excludes teams like ours from ever earning the kind of bowl revenue that the BCS door leaves a slight crack open for.

For us, the BCS is far, far better than the new system. Hell, at least we all shared in a small part of that BCS revenue under the old system. We won't get a dime on the new one.

IMO, next year's team will be much better if it has a normal amount of injuries.

Nine wins isn't good enough.  Fire Frank Solich.

Another point to this...  If there was ever a time when advancing conferences could be crucial due to system changes, it is probably now.  Thankfully we are peaking at the right time.

I've seen crazier things happen.
